The Post-Fab Product Realization department (05236) is seeking an experienced and motivated Product Engineer with expertise to join our team working on the development, production, and delivery of semiconductor integrated circuit products. As a successful candidate, you will be responsible for contributing as part of a team and leading efforts to deliver products for mission critical applications. In this role, you will partner with a diverse team of subject matter experts to: establish and maintain product definitions, define test requirements and processes, analyze and improve yields, track development and production progress, and pursue failure analysis to assure all product requirements are met. You will perform a diverse set of complex assignments requiring multi-disciplinary thinking, close teamwork, flexibility, and versatility. Having a desire to learn and develop your own skills will be crucial and beneficial as you join a fun and motivated team to accomplish missions relevant to Sandia and to our nation.

Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite.

Salary Range

$117,500 - $235,700

*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

  • Graduate degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a highly related field where an independent research project was a graduation requirement (e.g., independent project, thesis, or dissertation).
  • Demonstrated experience with analog and digital circuit design and analysis.
  • Hands-on experience testing and de-bugging circuitry, with clear mastery of tools such as oscilloscopes, logic/network/spectrum analyzers, function/pulse generators, etc.
  • Proven experience with design and analysis tools (e.g., Matlab and LabVIEW), analog simulation codes (e.g., LTSpice), and HDL simulation codes (e.g.,ModelSim).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams.

Also, for this posting we are seeking individuals with the following experience:
  • Experience in formal product development and engineering.
  • Experience in Electronics or Electrical engineering.
  • Ability to apply coordinated technical judgment using the scientific method to recognize and formulate problems in both R&D and manufacturing settings.
  • Process Change Control management and new process validation, while improving producibility and yield through experimental design.
  • Proven ability to define, interpret, and translate microelectronics requirements into test and verification protocols, as well as authoring analyses, verification plans, and qualification documents.
  • Skilled in developing and troubleshooting manufacturing processes. Industry or academic experience with CMOS fabrication and/or microelectronics packaging is beneficial.
  • Demonstrated capacity to work independently, but also collaboratively across multiple engineering areas, fostering positive relationships in multi-disciplinary team environments.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills with the ability to lead troubleshooting teams, summarize data, and effectively present conclusions.
  • Active DOE Q-level clearance.
  • Experience in working with supply chain professionals to help identify needs.

  • Experience in authoring written analyses, requirements traceability reports, verification/ validation plans, qualification plans, etc.

  • Industry or academic experience in the area of microelectronics packaging including plastic encapsulated and ceramic packaged parts.

  • Interest in developing the skills necessary to act as a Deputy Product Realization Team Lead within the ASIC's Post Fab team, with the intention of potientially transitioning to a Product
  • Realization Team Lead as the need or opportunity arises.


About Our Team

The Post-Fab Product Realization department is responsible for development and stewardship of robust systems that deliver microelectronics for national security applications. The technology portfolio includes process development and high-rigor p roduction for ceramic packaging and plastic ball grid array packaging for Application Specific Integrated Circuits (ASICS) as well as Read-Out Integrated Circuits (RIOC). The organization is part of the Post Fab Technologies Group within Sandia's Microsystems Engineering, Science, and Applications Center (MESA) and partners closely with the Integrated Circuit design, fabrication, and Advanced Packaging/Integration department to establish capabilities that meet the unique requirements of our national security customers.
