In this senior-level role, you will work alongside our business units and principal engineers to design, build, and deploy Microsoft Power Platform solutions that modernize county services and improve outcomes for King County residents.
The ideal candidate brings 3-5 years of hands-on Power Platform experience, a genuine curiosity about emerging AI tools like GitHub Copilot and Copilot Studio, and above all, the ability to listen deeply to stakeholders before reaching for a solution. You thrive in collaborative environments, welcome feedback, and are energized by continuous learning.

This recruitment aims to fill two Special Duty Assignment (SDA) or Term-Limited Temporary (TLT) positions with anticipated durations of 2.5 years

Job Duties

  • Engage business stakeholders in structured discovery conversations; practice active listening to understand operational pain points, workflows, and priorities before proposing or building solutions.
  • Design and build Canvas Apps, Model-Driven Apps, and Power Pages using out-of-the-box Microsoft Power Platform capabilities; favor configuration over custom code.
  • Create and maintain Power Automate cloud flows (automated, scheduled, and instant) integrating with Dataverse, SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, and other county systems.
  • Assist in Dataverse table design, relationships, business rules, and security role configuration to support well-structured, maintainable solutions.
  • Package and deploy solutions using Azure DevOps in collaboration with senior engineers, following Dev/Test/UAT/Prod ALM practices.
  • Actively learn and adopt emerging Al tools-including GitHub Copilot and Microsoft Copilot Studio-to accelerate development, assist with specification, and enhance solution quality.
  • Contribute to solution documentation, user quick start guides, and team knowledge-sharing sessions to support adoption and long-term maintainability.
  • Collaborate closely with Principal-level and Senior engineers; actively incorporate design feedback, peer review input, and architectural guidance to grow technical capability.

Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills

  • Three (3) to five (5) years of hands-on experience developing, configuring, and supporting Power Platform solutions, including Power Apps (Canvas and/or Model-Driven) and Power Automate.
  • Demonstrated active listening skills and the ability to ask clarifying questions; translates business needs into configured, practical solutions without over-engineering.
  • Working knowledge of Power Fx; ability to build and troubleshoot Canvas App formulas and expressions independently.
  • Familiarity with Azure DevOps or similar tools for source control, work item tracking, and solution lifecycle management.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; comfortable explaining technical concepts and solution trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated eagerness and track record of quickly learning new tools, platforms, or technologies-including AI-powered development tools.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Hands-on experience with GitHub Copilot or Microsoft Copilot Studio for AI-assisted development or conversational agent building.
  • Power BI report development experience; ability to connect to Dataverse or SharePoint and build basic dashboards.
  • Microsoft Power Platform certification: PL-900 (Power Platform Fundamentals) or PL-400 (Power Platform Developer Associate).
  • Experience working in a public sector, government, or large enterprise environment.
  • Familiarity with Dataverse security model (business units, security roles, field-level security) and solution-aware ALM practices
  • Experience with Azure services such as Azure Functions and related integration components used in enterprise Power Platform solutions; Azure development skills are preferred.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations (F&O) or other Dynamics 365 enterprise applications is desired.
