Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis until the requisition is closed.

Blue Origin is pioneering the future of space-based communications with TeraWave, a revolutionary satellite communications network designed to deliver symmetrical data speeds of up to 6 Tbps anywhere on Earth. This multi-orbit constellation will consist of optically interconnected satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO) and medium Earth orbit (MEO), providing enterprise-grade connectivity for critical operations worldwide.

As part of the Spacecraft Bus Avionics team, you will be responsible for driving requirements, design, analysis, test, and critical review of avionics hardware. This senior level role requires leadership and expertise for schematic and circuit design. You will play a key role in developing the TeraWave Satellite system from concept through formal qualification and verification including integration and flight support activities.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Own end-to-end product development for a space rated component.
  • Provide leadership as a member of a cross disciplinary team in a fast-paced design environment.
  • Participate in the entire design cycle of flight and mission critical avionics.
  • Collaborate with customers and stakeholders to define requirements and design architecture.
  • Collaborate with the electrical engineering team to incorporate printed circuit board interconnect systems and power integrity analyses of these components.
  • Develop and implement controller algorithms to optimize converter performance and efficiency.
  • Design avionics solutions for performance and high reliability in harsh environments.
  • Create mechanical interface definitions, specifications, and control documents.
  • Plan and conduct engineering tests and data reviews.
  • Create and deliver presentations, proposals, and training material on technical subjects.
  • Review assembly instructions and support hardware builds.
  • Validate requirements through design, test, analysis, and inspection.
  • Support Production and Quality Engineering as needed, including dispositioning material defects.
  • Manage revisions of the product design configurations through the product lifecycle.
  • Mentor and train junior engineers.
  • Review and approve designs and documentation created by other team members.

Minimum Qualifications
  • B.S. degree in electrical engineering or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience designing ruggedized electronic components or similar high-performance / high reliability hardware.
  • 8+ years of experience designing, testing, and debugging switching DCDC power supplies including component selection, schematic capture, and layout.
  • End-to-end product development for a space rated component.
  • Strong background in board bring-up, manufacturing, and initial validation.
  • Experience designing hardware for radiation environments.
  • Ability to work independently on rapid development programs.
  • Experience in digital design circuits including FPGAs, CMOS sensors, and DDR memory and supporting DCDC converters.
  • Select and qualify EEE parts for space environments.
  • PCB design, FPGA integration, and EMI/EMC mitigation strategies for flight hardware.
  • Experience with Altium Designer, multi-lamination stack-ups, impedance controlled nets, and complex design constraints.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Graduate degree in related engineering or technical field.
  • Experience leading complex satellite/space flight avionics programs including integrating hardware, firmware, and software.
  • Experience with power architecture definition and load analysis supporting complex digital electronics.
  • Experience doing worst-case analysis, circuit Finite Element Analysis, and Failure Modes and effects Analysis.
  • Proficiency with scripting, programming, and analysis/modeling tools: Python, Linux/Windows shell scripting, C, C++, and MATLAB.
  • Background in fault detection, redundancy strategies, and system-level reliability modeling.
  • Experience managing and mentoring engineering teams, including performance development, technical guidance, and cross-functional coordination.
