Full Job Description
The Senior Portfolio Operations Program Manager will lead our portfolio operations and drive speed-to-value across our product and technology teams. This role combines operational excellence with strategic thinking with responsibility to ensure cross-team visibility and coordination while also diagnosing and solving systemic challenges that slow us down. This position will be the connective tissue between product and IT, breaking down silos, removing friction, standardizing ways of working, and helping leadership understand true ROI. As we shift toward speed, agility, and measurable outcomes in an AI-driven landscape, this role will help us adapt quickly and operate at our best. Responsibilities • Portfolio Strategy & Visibility: Own a single source of truth for portfolio health-initiatives, dependencies, blockers, and metrics. Analyze how work flows across product and IT; identify bottlenecks, redundancies, and misalignments. Conduct regular health reviews and escalate risks early, before they derail delivery. • Speed-to-Value Framework: Define what "speed" and "value" mean in your context. Build the measurement engine-dashboards, KPIs, and reporting cadences-that tracks cycle time, deployment frequency, time-to-first-value, and ROI. Ensure leadership uses this data for decision-making. • Root-Cause Problem-Solving: Lead diagnosis and resolution of high-impact organizational challenges (decision velocity, delivery delays, resource constraints, cross-team friction). Design systemic solutions, not band-aids. Measure outcomes and iterate. • Standardization & Operating Models: Develop playbooks, templates, and operating models that enable consistency without stifling innovation. Identify common pain points (vendor selection, onboarding, handoffs, approval workflows) and build scalable solutions. Drive adoption through partnership, not mandate. • Organizational Optimization: Recommend strategic changes to workflows, team structure, or capabilities based on data. Help eliminate bureaucracy while maintaining guardrails. Raise the bar for how we execute. • AI & Emerging Technology Adoption: Stay current with emerging tools and approaches (AI tooling, automation, modern delivery frameworks). Evaluate pragmatic adoption and help teams think about competitive advantages. • Stakeholder Leadership & Communication: Translate portfolio status and outcomes into executive briefs. Influence senior leadership on organizational priorities and trade-offs. Make progress visible; highlight wins and communicate risks clearly. • Relationship Building & Mentorship: Spend time with teams-understand their challenges, build trust, and be seen as a partner. Mentor Program Managers and Team Leads. Raise PM maturity across the organization. • All other duties as assigned. Skills and Experience • Minimum of seven or more years of program/portfolio management experience in product, IT operations, or technology delivery environments is required. • Demonstrated experience building metrics, dashboards, and measurement frameworks, with strong data fluency. • Demonstrated success improving cross-team coordination, removing operational friction, and solving organizational challenges. Experience working in matrixed or distributed organization is preferred. • Ability to influence without authority; strong stakeholder management and communication skills. Comfortable working with ambiguity with a bias toward action. • Proven leader who understands technical products and services, including partnering with engineers to evaluate and make trade-offs. • End-to-end product development life-cycle experience, including commercialization planning, go-to market strategy, and the successful launch and adoption of new products and services. • Thorough understanding of development, engineering, and sales processes, including Agile/Scrum, SAFe, Pragmatic Marketing Framework, and Miller Heiman. • Experience in medical devices and/or the broader healthcare industry, including Clinical Engineering or Clinical Asset Management, is preferred. • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, superior executive presentation skills, and sound judgment. Strong strategic planning, organizational, and program management skills, with a demonstrated ability to translate strategy into actionable plans and measurable outcomes. • Innovative thinker with creative problem-solving, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills. • Ability to travel up to 15%, or approximately three business days per month; travel may fluctuate based on organizational needs. Education and Qualifications • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Management, Computer Science, or related discipline is required, or equivalent experience. #LI-Remote
