About the RoleEquitable Investment Management Group is seeking a
Senior Portfolio Analyst to join the Portfolio Analytics team. This role plays a critical part in
investment manager oversight, portfolio analytics, and Board-level reporting, supporting over
$120B in multi-asset portfolios across variable insurance platforms.
The position offers broad exposure to
manager research, asset allocation, portfolio construction, and governance, with direct interaction with senior leadership and the Independent Board of Directors.
What You'll Be DoingPortfolio Analytics & Performance Oversight
- Lead analysis of portfolio performance, risk, and attribution across multi-asset portfolios, including Allocation, Target Date, ETF, and Offshore strategies
- Provide insightful performance attribution and identify key drivers of returns and active positioning
- Monitor portfolios relative to benchmarks, peers, and stated objectives, highlighting emerging risks and opportunities
- Ensure portfolios remain aligned with investment guidelines, risk tolerances, and strategic objectives
Manager Oversight & Due Diligence
- Support selection, evaluation, and ongoing oversight of external investment managers overseeing ~$130B in assets
- Participate in manager due diligence, monitoring, and termination decisions, including qualitative and quantitative assessments
- Assist in manager search processes, including RFP development, evaluation frameworks, and recommendation materials
- Monitor organizational, personnel, and process risks across sub-advisors
Board & Investment Committee Reporting
- Prepare and deliver quarterly Board of Trustee materials, including performance, risk, and manager updates
- Support annual 15c process, including performance evaluation, fee analysis, and benchmarking for management contract approvals
- Translate complex analytics into clear, concise, board-ready insights and narratives
- Partner with senior leadership to frame key discussion points and recommendations for governance bodies
Portfolio Strategy & Implementation
- Support development and enhancement of portfolio structures, asset allocation frameworks, and new product initiatives
- Analyze market developments and macro trends, assessing implications for portfolio positioning
- Contribute to portfolio transitions and implementation oversight, ensuring efficient execution
Stakeholder & Cross-Functional Support
- Partner with Investment Specialists and Communication teams to support client-facing materials and messaging
- Maintain oversight and coordination with strategic partners (e.g., AXA Japan for offshore portfolios)
- Support regulatory and compliance reporting, including N-Port and N-CEN
This position offers a hybrid work schedule, with an on-site presence of 2-3 days per week combining flexibility with team collaboration.
The base salary range for this position is $100,000 - $150,000. Actual base salaries vary based on skills, experience, and geographical location. In addition to base pay, Equitable provides compensation to reward performance with base salary increases, spot bonuses, and short-term incentive compensation opportunities. QualificationsWhat You Will BringRequired Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, and/or related field
- 5+ years of experience in portfolio analytics, manager research, or investment reporting
- Established proficiency in Excel (including VBA/macros)
- Experience with analytical tools such as Bloomberg, Aladdin, Morningstar, or FactSet preferred
- Highly developed analytical, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to synthesize complex performance, risk, and portfolio data into concise, impactful narratives for senior leadership.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional designation (CFA, CAIA) or in progress
