Qualifications

• Two-year technical degree in applicable discipline plus eight years applicable experience or ten years practical design experience
• Five years of experience with large scope projects
• Experience in system or project designs with limited technical supervision
• Ability to read and interpret plans from various disciplines
• Proficient in using industry standard design software

Responsibilities

• Coordinate initial project setup, ensuring current models are accessible
• Prepare accurate electronic drawings using industry software
• Develop design approaches and concepts in collaboration with project engineers
• Implement design requirements as outlined by the design team
• Perform system layout and sizing for projects
• Assist with studies, load calculations, and equipment selection
• Anticipate potential design problems and coordinate solutions with the team
• Review shop drawings and keep all disciplines updated on changes
• Attend project update meetings with clients and team members
• Lead design team coordination with internal and external contacts
• Communicate design specifications to contractors and suppliers during bid and construction phases
• Maintain detailed communication records with all project stakeholders
• Coordinate contract documents with construction administrators and oversee on-site inspections as necessary
• Identify collisions using Navisworks and suggest changes during design review
• Conduct overall review of design documents for technical accuracy and completeness
• Assist in developing man-hour budgets and ensure compliance with project timelines
• Foster ongoing communication with project managers and external vendors to acquire necessary information
• Stay updated with code requirements and industry trends
• Mentor and provide guidance to designers and EITs
• Contribute to employee performance evaluations.
• Oversee data collection and field verification when required.
• Collaborate with the design team on standardizing practices and addressing QA/QC issues
