Full Job Description
Job Description

As a Senior Software Development Engineer, you will design, build, and operate cloud-native services that support the full lifecycle of data center hardware operations. You will work on systems that help technicians and managers execute work more efficiently, reduce operational friction, improve visibility, and make repair operations more measurable and predictable.

This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys building reliable distributed systems, working across product and operational domains, and turning complex workflows into simple, scalable software experiences. You will contribute independently to major features, collaborate across engineering and operations teams, and help raise the quality, reliability, and maintainability of the systems your team owns.

The IC3 leveling guidance describes senior engineers as operating independently, building major features in existing systems, improving team practices, and driving design, operational readiness, and risk mitigation for their features and subsystems. This role aligns to that scope while focusing on CHS software systems that support OCI data center growth, repair operations, and management.

CHS's roadmap emphasizes the need for a task-centric repair operator platform, repair analytics, guided workflows, SOP modernization, spares and inventory signals, and tooling that reduces manual decision-making for operators. The Single Pane of Glass vision similarly calls for a unified, mobile-first platform that consolidates task execution, inventory management, guided procedures, automation, and analytics into a seamless experience for data center technicians and managers.

Responsibilities

As a Senior Software Development Engineer on CHS, you will:

Design, develop, test, deploy, and operate cloud-native services that support OCI data center hardware operations, repair workflows, inventory processes, analytics, and operational management.

Build scalable backend services, APIs, workflows, and data integrations that connect operational systems into unified user experiences for technicians, managers, and support teams.

Develop software that transforms complex operational processes into guided, task-centric workflows with clear states, automated handoffs, validation steps, and measurable outcomes.

Contribute to systems that improve task prioritization, work assignment, technician productivity, inventory visibility, part readiness, and operational decision-making.

Implement reliable integrations with systems of record for ticketing, inventory, knowledge management, telemetry, and reporting while ensuring correctness, resiliency, and security.

Collaborate with product managers, designers, operations leaders, technicians, and partner engineering teams to understand field workflows and translate them into practical software solutions.

Participate in architecture and design reviews, make sound technical tradeoffs, and contribute to scalable designs that support global OCI growth.

Own major features and subsystems from design through production operation, including monitoring, alerting, incident response, root-cause analysis, and continuous improvement.

Write secure, maintainable, well-tested code and contribute to high engineering standards through code reviews, design documentation, testing strategies, and operational readiness practices.

Use data, metrics, and production signals to identify bottlenecks, reduce manual effort, improve service reliability, and increase the effectiveness of CHS repair and management workflows.

Help evolve engineering practices, operational practices, development processes, and ownership models within the team.

Mentor junior engineers through technical guidance, code reviews, design feedback, and examples of strong ownership and operational discipline.
