CGI is seeking an experienced Senior Platform Engineering Specialist to join our growing Platform Engineering consulting practice within the Emerging Technologies team.

As a full-time member of CGI, you will become part of a collaborative team of architects, engineers, and consultants delivering enterprise technology solutions for some of Canada's leading public and private sector organizations. While you may be assigned to one or more client engagements, you will remain a permanent member of CGI's Platform Engineering practice, collaborating with teammates, contributing to reusable engineering assets, and continuously developing your technical and consulting expertise.

In this role, you will help clients modernize the way they build, deploy, secure, and operate technology. You will design, implement, and support modern technology platforms that improve software delivery, developer productivity, operational resilience, security, and business agility.

Success in this role requires curiosity, adaptability, strong engineering fundamentals, and a passion for continuous learning. Rather than specializing in a single technology stack, you will leverage sound engineering principles to deliver innovative, scalable, and secure solutions across a variety of industries, technologies, and client environments.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

Platform Engineering

Design, build, and support modern engineering platforms that improve developer productivity and operational efficiency.

Develop reusable platform capabilities that enable self-service infrastructure, application delivery, observability, automation, and software delivery.

Contribute to Internal Developer Platforms (IDPs), engineering standards, reusable templates, and platform services.

Improve the developer experience through automation, standardization, and engineering best practices.

Cloud Engineering

Design, deploy, and support secure, scalable, and resilient cloud solutions across public, private, and hybrid cloud environments.

Implement infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automation.

Support cloud migration, modernization, optimization, and operational improvement initiatives.

Apply cloud governance, networking, identity, security, resiliency, and cost optimization best practices.

Software Delivery & Automation

Design and implement modern software delivery pipelines using CI/CD, GitOps, Infrastructure as Code, and automation.

Automate infrastructure provisioning, application deployment, testing, configuration management, and operational workflows.

Improve software quality, deployment reliability, operational stability, and engineering efficiency through continuous improvement.

Promote engineering practices that reduce manual effort and increase delivery consistency.

Cloud Native Engineering

Deploy, configure, and support Kubernetes and enterprise container platforms.

Build and support cloud-native applications utilizing containers, APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.

Develop resilient, scalable application platforms using automation and modern engineering practices.

Troubleshoot complex production and platform issues across cloud-native environments.

Reliability, Security & Operations

Improve platform reliability through monitoring, observability, automation, and operational excellence.

Integrate security throughout the software development lifecycle using modern DevSecOps practices.

Support incident response, root cause analysis, capacity planning, and continuous service improvement.

Promote secure, reliable, and resilient engineering practices across client environments.

Innovation & Emerging Technologies

Evaluate emerging technologies and engineering practices that improve client outcomes.

Contribute to proof-of-concepts, reusable accelerators, engineering assets, and innovation initiatives.

Support enterprise adoption of Artificial Intelligence, intelligent automation, and modern engineering capabilities where appropriate.

Consulting & Collaboration

Partner directly with client stakeholders to understand business challenges and translate requirements into practical technical solutions.

Collaborate with CGI architects, engineers, and consultants to deliver successful client outcomes.

Participate in architecture reviews, technical workshops, design sessions, and strategic planning activities.

Support proposals, technical estimates, proof-of-concepts, and solution development when required.

Mentor junior engineers and contribute to knowledge sharing across CGI's Platform Engineering practice.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

Engineering Experience

Demonstrated experience designing, implementing, and supporting enterprise technology platforms within complex business and technical environments.

Experience delivering Platform Engineering, Cloud Engineering, DevOps, Infrastructure Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), or DevSecOps solutions.

Experience contributing to cloud modernization, application modernization, automation, or digital transformation initiatives.

Strong understanding of modern engineering practices and the ability to apply them across diverse client environments.

Ability to quickly learn and apply new technologies and engineering approaches.

CGI is providing a reasonable estimate of the pay range for this role. The determination of this range includes factors such as skill set level, geographic market, experience and training, and licenses and certifications. Compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $95,000-$145,000. This role is an existing vacancy.
