Role Overview:Seeking a Senior Plastic Product Design Engineer with a strong focus on injection molded plastic part design, robust tolerance control, and end-to-end mechanical development execution, particularly within medical device new product development.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead design of injection molded plastic components and other mechanical parts from concept through design release, incorporating DFM principles and manufacturability constraints.
- Develop and maintain 3D CAD models, assemblies, and detailed drawings aligned with project and documentation requirements.
- Develop and validate tolerance stack-ups to ensure fit, function, and performance across assemblies.
- Own engineering drawings, dimensioning strategy, and release-ready documentation.
- Drive design decisions using tolerance analysis to mitigate risk and ensure manufacturability and reliability.
- Lead defined sub-portions of projects, managing design execution, risks, and deliverables.
- Provide clear status updates and proactively escalate issues impacting scope, schedule, or performance.
- Interface with vendors on DFM reviews, tooling strategies, and part optimization.
- Incorporate vendor feedback into design iterations while maintaining performance and timeline targets.
Required Skills:- Senior-level experience in mechanical design of injection molded plastic components.
- Strong proficiency in CAD systems; Creo strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience developing and analyzing tolerance stack-ups for complex assemblies.
- Proven capability in creating detailed engineering drawings.
- Experience leading small project scopes or subsystem development.
- Strong ability to communicate across teams and interface with vendors.
Qualifications:- Experience in medical device new product development (NPI) including familiarity with design controls and regulated environments.
- Experience with assemblies involving plastics integrated with metals and other materials.
