Responsibilities:1. Provides technical support of routine operations, project work, major maintenance or construction support, and emergency response to ensure worker safety throughout the planning and execution phases of work.
2. Supports development, maintenance, and execution of safety programs for implementation in the field to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and conformance to MPC corporate standards.
3. Conducts auditing on safety programs to verify compliance and conformance with regulatory and MPC standards. This includes analyzing safety performance data to identify and report trends, along with proposing recommendations to address areas of concern.
4. Leads and supports investigations for near-misses, incidents, and injuries to identify root causes and recommendations to prevent future incidents. Tracks recommendations to implementation to ensure completion.
5. Develops and presents training material related to a variety of safety topics in collaboration with Operations and Learning Development departments.
6. Provides subject matter expertise for assigned programs, which may include providing input as a competent person for fall protection and excavation safety, support during Life Critical work and input on other regulatory programs.
7. Develops safety related communications for inclusion into shift starter meetings, safety meeting, notices, and bulletins.
Minimum Education and Experience:- High school diploma or GED required with six (6) years of relevant experience, or Bachelor's degree with four (4) years of relevant experience.
- Ability to manage complex projects with limited support.
- Ability to identify risk and implement mitigations based on knowledge of the business.
