POSITION SUMMARY

This role is part of the Cloud Enablement team, which drives the adoption and optimization of public cloud technologies across the enterprise. As a Senior Cloud Engineer, you will design and manage cloud infrastructure and implement Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) with Terraform.

In this role, you will drive automation, security, and compliance across on-premises and cloud environments while delivering consumable patterns, templates, and reference architectures that simplify adoption. By fostering innovation and leveraging emerging technologies, this role empowers digital transformation-modernizing applications, streamlining operations, and unlocking new business value through cloud-native solutions.

This position belongs to a family of jobs with increasing responsibility, competency, and skill level. Actual position title and pay grade will be based on the selected candidate's experience and qualifications.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Designs, implements, and manages Azure PaaS and cloud infrastructure across compute, networking, storage, and security services, ensuring reliability and scalability.
  • Develops and maintains Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform to automate provisioning and management of cloud resources.
  • Enables containerization and orchestration through Docker and Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) to support high-availability workloads.
  • Delivers consumable patterns, templates, and reference architectures that accelerate adoption and consistency.
  • Assesses current technology and contributes to developing a road map toward continual improvement and efficiency gains.
  • Actively participates in performance optimization projects for cloud-based systems and services through conducting cost analysis for specific cloud infrastructure components and applications.
  • Assists with the implementation of service monitoring. Partners with the infrastructure support and development teams to ensure continuous availability and operational continuity of critical systems.
  • Supports all aspects of the cloud development life cycle for cloud solutions, including planning, requirements, development, testing, and quality assurance.
  • Supports the development team and performs activities to resolve moderately complex developer issues in a timely and accurate fashion.
  • Executes the troubleshooting of incidents, identifying root cause, fixing and documenting problems, and implementing preventive measures. Provides high-availability operational support and develops documentation across the environment.
  • Develops build and release processes.
  • Undertakes system configurations and baselines to support secure application development software control best practices and standards.
  • Writes and delivers automation scripts and cloud infrastructure as code to ensure standardization, reliability, scalability, continuity, and consistency for resource deployments and maintenance.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, related field or equivalent experience.
  • Two (2) or more years of relevant experience required.
  • Experience using cloud platforms required, experience using Azure highly preferred.
  • Experience using Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) required, experience using Terraform highly preferred.
  • Experience using CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices, highly preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with containers, Docker and Kubernetes Service preferred.

  • Cloud Networking - Cloud networking refers to the practice of using cloud-based infrastructure and services to facilitate efficient communication, data transfer, and connectivity between devices, applications, and users over the internet. It involves leveraging cloud computing resources to optimize network performance, scalability, and accessibility, enabling organizations to securely access and manage their data and applications from anywhere.
  • Cloud Storage - The ability to design, implement, manage and maintain cloud-based storage solutions leveraging cloud storage concepts and technologies with a working knowledge of cloud storage architecture and cloud storage security leveraging cloud-based storage tools and platforms.
  • Containerization - Containerization is form of operating system virtualization, through which applications are run in isolated user spaces called containers, all using the same shared operating system (OS). Container orchestration automatically provisions, deploys, scales, and manages containerized applications without worrying about the underlying infrastructure.
  • Database Management - Knowledge of governance frameworks for data analytics, including data usage policies, data access controls, and oversight of analytical processes.
  • General Programming - Applies a computer language to communicate with computers using a set of instructions and to automate the execution of tasks.
  • Operating System Fundamentals - System software that manages computer hardware, software resources, and provides common services for computer programs.
  • Service Delivery Management - The manner in which an organization provides users access to IT services, which include applications, data storage and other business resources.
  • Troubleshooting - The act or process of discovering and resolving problems, disputes, or mechanical issues through a systematic, usually iterative, approach.
  • Virtualization - The ability to design, implement, and manage virtualized environments in a cloud environment as well as best practices for deploying, maintaining, managing, and optimizing virtual machines leveraging a working knowledge of virtualization concepts and technologies using cloud-based tools and platforms.
