What you'll do

  • The PCB CAD Library team develops and maintains the component libraries used in PCB schematic entry and layout, following IPC, industry, and Viasat standards. We are seeking a Sr. PCB CAD Librarian for this group.
  • As a Sr. PCB CAD Librarian, you will be required to design schematic symbols, footprints, and parts. Prioritize workload based on customer needs and address library-related issues. You will also assist in maintaining Viasat standards and process improvements.

The day-to-day

As a Sr. PCB CAD Librarian, you will provide support to our internal customers by creating schematic symbols, footprints, and parts that adhere to IPC, industry, and Viasat standards. You will also provide support internal to the library team by validating library parts and ensuring they are in compliance with company standards. You may be required to work directly with other engineering departments regarding parts that are Viasat proprietary.

What you will need:
    • Must be a U.S. citizen
    • 8+ years of direct experience and expertise in library development.
    • Highly proficient with Siemens Xpedition EDM library tools (e.g., EDM Library Cockpit and EDM Librarian)
    • Deep understanding of IPC-7351 specifications.
    • Able to read and understand component datasheets.
    • An ability to use various standards (IPC, Industry, and Viasat) and methods to develop schematic symbols and footprints accordingly.
    • Must be able to work effectively in a team environment.
    • Have a full understanding of the interactions required with functional support groups (e.g., Component Engineering, Electrical Engineering, PCB CAD Design, etc.)
    • Must be able to demonstrate the ability to continually learn new technologies and processes.
    • Demonstrate the ability to problem-solve and resolve issues through change control or other methods.
    • Ability to travel

  • Experience with SolidWorks and AutoCAD is a plus.
  • Experience working in Jira.
  • Agile and/or PLM experience
  • Strong written communication skills
  • Technical degree or equivalent experience.

Salary range

$99,500.00 - $157,000.00 / annually.For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $123,500.00- $185,500.00/ annually
