What you will be responsible for: The Senior Payroll Specialist will be responsible for processing payroll for all employees, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. The ideal candidate will have experience in payroll processing, a strong understanding of wage laws, and excellent organizational skills.
What You'll Do: - Process weekly and semi-monthly payroll for all employees, including salaried and hourly workers.
- Ensure accuracy in timesheets, deductions, and payroll calculations.
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws.
- Handle payroll taxes, garnishments, benefits deductions, workers' compensation, and other payroll-related reports and adjustments.
- Prepare and submit payroll reports to management.
- Reconcile payroll accounts and assist with audits as necessary.
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll and resolve discrepancies.
- Collaborate with HR and accounting teams to ensure smooth payroll operations.
- Stay updated on changes in payroll laws and best practices.
- Set up and maintain employee personnel files.
- Assist with registration in new states, as needed.
Skills & Qualifications: - Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred).
- 5-10 years of payroll processing experience, preferably in the construction or manufacturing industry.
- Proficiency in using various payroll platforms. NetSuite preferred.
- Strong knowledge of California and multi-state payroll laws, wage and hour regulations, and tax requirements.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with integrity.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
