Join us as a Senior Paralegal – Legacy Manager to take on key responsibilities within a world-class Claims function.


How you will create an impact

AIG Claims, Inc. is responsible for the orderly winding-up of discontinued operations of certain entities. The Legacy Solutions team ensures an operating environment that minimizes legal, regulatory and reputational risks in the course of timely and efficiently running off legacy exposures.


AIG Claims, Inc. is looking for an experienced paralegal in New York, NY to assist the Legacy Solutions team in their management of casualty coverage litigation involving a run-off client company. The position will report to the Head of Legacy Solutions and will provide day-to-day support on behalf of the client company to national coordinating counsel and local counsel.   


Responsibilities include:

  • Help manage docket of litigation files, including gathering and inputting detailed case information, by utilizing internal electronic systems;
  • Coordinate payments to law firms, vendors and others through various electronic systems;
  • Assist with internal and external document searches in support of litigation needs including but not limited to discovery requests;
  • Organize documents for litigation files;
  • Draft and issue litigation hold notices;
  • Edit and organize reports to senior management concerning specified litigation matters;
  • Provide oversight of outside counsel paralegals in respect of assigned tasks;
  • Coordinate meetings; and
  • Assist with insurance inquiries.

What you'll need to succeed:

  • College degree and/or paralegal certificate is preferred; 
  • 3+ year(s) of experience as a paralegal, case manager or legal secretary is preferred;
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (with a focus on Excel) and have the ability to learn other computer applications;
  • Must possess excellent communication skills (both written and verbal);
  • Must be collaborative, highly organized, able to multi-task, deadline oriented and able to interact with senior leaders in the organization; and
  • Must be willing to be mentored and trained to meet the needs of the organization.
