Full Job Description
Senior Oracle Database Administrator

Location: Lake Mary, FL preferred; Pittsburgh, PA or New York, NY also considered
Schedule: Hybrid, 2 days on site per week with flexible days

About the role
Our client, a large financial services organization, is looking for a senior Oracle DBA to operate and secure Oracle databases in the cloud during an accelerated rollout. This is a hands-on administration role. You will own backup, recovery and resiliency, patching and upgrades, access controls, and monitoring, working closely with security, engineering, and operations teams. We are looking for someone who takes ownership and delivers independently.

What you will do
  • Provision, configure, and maintain Oracle 19c and 23ai database servers in a cloud environment
  • Lead backup, restore, and resiliency work, including RMAN, logical exports and imports, snapshots, and point-in-time recovery
  • Configure and tune Active Data Guard for minimal replication lag without sacrificing performance
  • Plan, perform, and document patching, upgrades, diagnostics, and repair
  • Enforce least-privilege access through role assignments and security groups, including Oracle Database Vault for administrator and application support privileges
  • Maintain baseline configurations covering encryption at rest, auditing, threat detection, retention, and access parameters
  • Set up cloud-native monitoring, logging, and alerting for performance, capacity, access, and operational events
  • Keep clear maintenance records and handle backups, exports, and logs securely to support audit readiness
What you need
  • Extensive, recent, hands-on Oracle database administration experience at a senior level
  • Strong Oracle 19c experience
  • Proven backup and recovery skills with RMAN, including point-in-time restores
  • Working knowledge of Oracle Data Guard
  • Comfort working directly at the Linux command line
  • Experience running Oracle in a cloud environment; any major cloud platform is fine
  • Experience operating secure, auditable database environments at scale, including governing elevated access
  • Strong documentation and communication skills across engineering, security, and operations teams
  • A self-directed working style; you can run with a deliverable without step-by-step guidance
  • U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent residency, and the ability to sign an NDA for government project work
Nice to have
  • Microsoft Azure experience, including Azure-native monitoring and logging, managed identities, and resource tagging
  • On-premises to cloud Oracle migration experience
  • Oracle GoldenGate, including active/active schema or table level replication
  • Oracle 23ai
  • IBM Guardium database monitoring
  • Experience integrating access workflows with enterprise approval and ticketing systems
  • Exposure to data classification tooling and CI/CD guardrails for secret management
Additional details
  • The team supports weekend work, which is why the on-site requirement is two flexible days
  • Interviews are moving quickly; please include your availability when you apply
