As operational lead and division SME (Subject Matter Expert), provide supervision in the operation of the electric distribution system and the delivery of electric customer support services. Manage all aspects of Distribution Operations on a day to day basis including the interfaces with ESOC (Electric System Operations Center) and other departments to ensure top quartile system reliability and meet the daily demands of residential, commercial and industrial customer service repair requests.
Manage emergency response to system and weather events within the division including the determination of workforce levels, storm process activation and incident communications as needed.
Job Responsibilities- Manage the delivery of top quartile customer service in the repair and troubleshooting of electric service, including the ETR (Estimated Time of Restoration) process.
- Function as SME for complex operational issues including switching and tagging activities and the development and implementation of process improvements including technical and performance enhancements.
- Manage emergency response to system and weather events within the division including the determination of workforce levels, storm process activation and incident communication as needed. Make ultimate decisions regarding scheduled outages in support of other departments after considering impact to reliability, project schedules and customer satisfaction.
- Maintain effective working relationships across departments to achieve Electric Operations level objectives and targets. Review and approve new or updated one lines and circuit prints. On an interim basis and as required, assume the role of the Division Operations Manager.
- Manage the overall work plan and score-card results for the department. Influence score-card results in the operational, people, customers and financial quadrants. Direct work management activities and plan to achieve operational targets.
- Achieve the desired results of the Electric Distribution Department through the application of PSEG values, sound management practices and skills and total commitment to teamwork.
- Ensure quality and quantity of work performed is in compliance with Company standards and procedures, safe work practices and government regulations.
- Maximize system reliability by ensuring timely and effective planning and scheduling. As division/department SME, develop MAST and bargaining unit personnel group skills to effectively meet goals and performance objectives.
- Coach, counsel and recognize associates in accordance with Positive Discipline. Conduct fact-finding and handle first and second level grievance meetings of a complex nature. Conduct bargaining unit performance appraisals and provide input to MAST Performance and Accountability reviews.
- Ensure Electric Department on-call coverage and accept call-out obligations. Provide day to day leadership and technical direction to both first line MAST supervision and Bargaining Unit division workforce.
- Directs departmental operations across multiple locations (Headquarters and Sub-Headquarters). Deliver key messages, on-the-job training and development to MAST and Bargaining Unit division personnel (dispatchers, system operators).
- Provide leadership on safety related initiatives and model exemplary safe work practices. Oversee training and development at the Division to ensure compliance. This includes Compliance and Apprentice Training programs.
Job Specific Qualifications- High School Diploma or GED.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and experience (minimum of 5 years) in the operations of the distribution and sub-transmission system.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as an Operations Supervisor or equivalent operations department experience.
- Proven subject matter expert (SME) for departmental operations including switching and tagging.
- Demonstrated effectiveness in managing response to emergency operational situations.
- Proven motivations to develop and implement procedures/practices to improve operational results.
- Demonstrated high level of leadership and ability to communicate effectively to diverse groups both MAST and Union.
- Extensive working knowledge of Company/Union agreements and demonstrated experience handling first and second level complex grievance meetings.
- Demonstrated experience with and knowledge of balanced scorecard at the division and department levels.
- Must have a valid U.S. Drivers' License and safe driving record.
