Senior NC Programmer

Reporting To:
NC Programming Manager

Work Schedule:
Onsite - Torrance, CA
Moog's Military Aircraft Group is looking for a Senior NC Programmer to join them. You will report to the Manufacturing Engineering /NC Programming Leader and will have a 9/80 schedule option and work on-site at our aerospace plant in Torrance, CA.

To be considered for the Senior NC Programmer role, here's what you'll need to bring with you:
  • High School diploma or GED preferred. Otherwise, demonstrated ability to understand and apply all verbal, written and computer work instructions or training in English, and demonstrated ability to perform simple addition, subtraction, multiplication and division
  • Minimum 7 years NC Programming experience of multi axis CNC machines
  • Experience with program and troubleshoot complex machining processes on multiaxial/multifunction CNC machines.


Preferred qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering
  • Experience in the aerospace industry a plus
  • Knowledge of automation systems is a plus


As a Senior NC Programmer, you will:
  • Determine operations to be performed on N/C and prepare detailed program outline and establish tooling and gauging requirements to produce Aerospace parts on numerically controlled machines.
  • Prepare detailed operation sheets for the N/C portion of the process and make estimates of setup and run hours for production parts and design & build hours for tooling. When a part contains a very large percentage of N/C work, it may be entirely possible that he/she is responsible for the total operation sheet.
  • In addition to the above detailed "desk type" of work, you will also spend time in the N/C centers solving problems and improving processes associated with the parts you are responsible for. The solutions of these problems may require the Programmer "A"s decision alone, or could result in your contacting and working with your Group Leader, Methods Engineers, Moog Product or Design Engineers, Quality Assurance Personnel, Moog Metallurgists, or Inspectors. Human relation skills are necessary to work with a variety of people.
  • Provide technical guidance to your group.
  • Provide input on selection, placement, job evaluation, performance, and appraisals.
  • Support the Machine Shop and Assembly & Test areas by coordinating the manufacturing Engineering group activities.
  • Participate in the development of new processes and manufacturing methods for standardization and cost reduction.
  • Work with department Engineers & Technicians to achieve on-time and cost competitiveness in process planning.
  • Provide technical input for difficult and non-routine Manufacturing Engineering work.
  • Work in a matrix-based organization and take initiative to contact and coordinate with other groups when a problem solution so requires.
  • Manage multiple tasks simultaneously and able to react to shifting priorities to meet business need.

Salary Range Transparency:
Torrance, CA $100,000.00-$125,000.00 Annually
