What You'll Do:

The Senior NALCOMIS Virtualization Manager provides enterprise-level technical and architectural leadership for all Virtual Environments hosting NALCOMIS/OOMA/OIMA and NIWC-directed virtual machines (VMs) at NTWL. This position owns the virtualization strategy, advanced configuration, availability, recoverability, and cybersecurity posture of VE-hosted systems, and serves as the primary technical interface with NIWC, NTWL, squadrons, and SA/DBAs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead design, configuration, and lifecycle management of VE and successor virtualization environments hosting NALCOMIS/OOMA/OIMA and NIWC-directed VMs.
  • Manage the VE in strict accordance with current NIWC procedures and applicable guidance to ensure full functionality, availability, and recoverability of all VMs and supported operating systems.
  • Provide console-level / virtualization-level access and oversight where RDP is prohibited, including advanced hypervisor, cluster, storage, and virtual networking configuration.
  • Plan and execute software, cybersecurity, and DAP-related updates upon NIWC release.
  • Ensure proper regression testing and validation of systems and applications following maintenance or outages.
  • Oversee ACAS vulnerability scan support and coordinate remediation activities for VE-hosted systems to maintain compliance with DoD/NIWC cybersecurity requirements.
  • Manage Detachment Server Pool Stock, including build-up, configuration, and maintenance in accordance with NIWC procedures and guidance to support squadron detachment operations.
  • Provide notification to the Naval Test Wing and affected squadron SA/DBAs prior to routine VE updates and changes.
  • Coordinate emergent maintenance windows, outage notifications, and restoration communications with Government and stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain VE architecture documentation, SOPs, build guides, and contingency/DR plans.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to senior, journeyman, and junior VE staff; lead technical training for supported organizations.
  • Support incident response and root-cause analysis for complex VE issues; recommend long-term corrective actions and resiliency improvements.


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and job skills can be obtained. (One year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required)
  • Certifications:
    • Ability to obtain DoD 8570/8140 Requirement: IAT Level II or III baseline (e.g., Security+ CE minimum; CISSP, CASP+ or equivalent strongly preferred).
  • Experience
    • A minimum of eight (8) years of progressive IT experience including five (5) years focused on enterprise virtualization (e.g., VMware vSphere/ESXi, Hyper-V) in secure/mission-critical environments.
    • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in a senior or lead technical leadership capacity.
    • Demonstrated experience managing large-scale virtual environments supporting critical applications; experience with NALCOMIS/OOMA/OIMA or NTCSS strongly preferred.
    • Direct experience deploying and operating EDR platforms (CrowdStrike, Microsoft Defender for Endpoint, or SentinelOne) at enterprise scale.
    • Strong background in automated patch management, vulnerability remediation workflows, and compliance reporting.
    • Experience with endpoint automation tooling including Ansible, PowerShell DSC, and scripting (PowerShell, Python, or Bash).
  • Other Requirements:
    • Ability to travel to project and customer locations as needed.
    • U.S. Citizenship required; ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:
    • Hands-on experience with VMware vSphere, vCenter, virtual networking, and storage integration in Navy/DoW programs. Experience in the government contractor/services industry.
    • Experience in prior direct support to NIWC or Naval Aviation logistics IT programs supporting NAE.
    • Familiarity with privileged access.
    • Experience designing high-availability, disaster recovery, and backup/restore solutions in virtualized environments.
    • Industry certifications: certifications such as VCP, MCSE, RHCE, CISSP, CASP+, or similar equivalent.
    • Active Secret security clearance

Salary Range: $120K - $130K
