Overview

As a key member of our Municipal Infrastructure Group in the Engineering, Design and Project Management Division for western Canada, you will thrive in a dynamic, team-oriented environment. As a Senior Municipal Engineer, you will be leading and managing delivery of civil & utility from conception to detailed design, and construction stages.  The Senior Civil Design Engineer for the municipal & utility projects is responsible for overseeing all civil engineering aspects of the project, ensuring that design deliverables meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and functionality. This role requires a blend of technical expertise and leadership to successfully deliver the civil design components within the specified timeframe and budget. The Senior Civil Design Engineer will work closely with other discipline leads, clients, and stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution and client satisfaction.

Your role

Our Municipal infrastructure team is looking for a dedicated Senior Municipal Engineer to join our growing team. To perform this role successfully, the individual will be responsible for but not limited to the following:

  • Develop, Oversee and manage detailed civil and utilities engineering designs, drawings and analysis for the civil infrastructure from preliminary concepts, specifications, bid documents, engineering directives with a focus on municipal clients, ensuring adherence to project deadlines, budgets, and quality standards within the Greater Vancouver Area.
  • Manage the design packages delivery and conduct regular project review meetings, provide guidance and support to team members, and ensure QA/QC processes are followed throughout the project.
  • Ensuring QA/QC, and compliance while following project budgets and timelines.
  • Complete civil & utilities designs within a team consisting of engineers, engineering interns and CAD technicians in the planning, execution, and management of civil, property, utilities and drainage design packages.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, designers, and construction personnel, to ensure seamless project delivery and compliance with design specifications.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for municipal clients, maintaining strong relationships and communication throughout project lifecycles.
  • Provide mentorship and coaching to junior staff, fostering professional development and team collaboration.

About you

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from a recognized institution.
  • Licensed BC Professional Engineer (P.Eng.).
  • Minimum of 20 years of experience in civil engineering, with a focus on civil municipal & utility design.
  • Experience in developing and maintaining project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation.
  • Experience in attending and representing the civil design team in project meetings, workshops, and presentations.
  • Project management experience would be an asset.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing civil design components of large-scale infrastructure projects, from conception through to completion.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MS Project.
  • Strong understanding of municipal design and construction standards and guidelines in BC, construction specifications and regulations. Familiarity with municipal and provincial clients and approving agencies.
  • Thorough understanding of the importance of health and safety.
  • Valid Driver’s License is required.
  • Expected compensation for this role is between Pay Range $117,200 - $161,200 annually. Base salaries are determined according to several parameters like skills, experience, and potential impact on the role. Internal and external competitiveness are also taken into account in our offers.
