Job Summary

The Senior Multifamily Architectural Designer at The Fischer Group shapes market-responsive attached and apartment products from approved programs through schematic design and design development. In this role, you will strengthen the attached and multifamily portfolio by balancing design intent, code compliance, constructability, and value engineering. Your work will connect Design, Marketing, Divisions, Construction Services, Production and Masters, Land Acquisition, Purchasing and Estimating, and GCL teams to move high-quality plans toward construction. You will also influence design quality by reviewing drawing sets, refining product offerings, and developing less-experienced team members.

You Will Thrive in This Role If You...
  • Translate approved programs into coherent attached and multifamily design solutions that balance design intent, technical requirements, and constructability.
  • Advance concepts through schematic design and design development while keeping decisions aligned with product objectives and market needs.
  • Evaluate product portfolios and identify practical opportunities for plan offerings, design features, and options.
  • Coordinate clearly across Design, Marketing, Divisions, Construction Services, Production and Masters, Purchasing and Estimating, Land Acquisition, and GCL teams.
  • Lead through clear guidance, training, constructive feedback, and thoughtful review of less-experienced Design Team members' work.
  • Apply sound judgment when using company-approved technologies, reviewing AI-assisted work for accuracy, protecting confidential information, and following data privacy and security requirements.

These skills will be used to:
  • Develop schematic design solutions that meet approved programs and advance attached and apartment concepts through design development.
  • Deliver completed schematic design drawings to the Design Development and Masters Teams to support development of master construction drawing sets.
  • Coordinate with Marketing and Division Teams to create exterior color packages that reinforce each community's theme and the architectural style of its buildings.
  • Review the Attached and Apartment product portfolios with the Design Manager and recommend additions, deletions, or modifications to plan offerings, design features, and options.
  • Apply residential and commercial building codes, including applicable accessibility requirements, to design work.
  • Review final construction drawing sets for accuracy, constructability, code compliance, and consistency with design intent.
  • Provide leadership by training less-experienced Design Team members and reviewing their work to support consistent design quality and adherence to standards.
  • Apply value-engineering principles to develop home designs that improve efficiency, eliminate waste, and simplify the construction process.

Required Qualifications:
  • Arch., M.Arch., or a similar professional degree in Architecture.
  • Five (5) years of experience in multi-family design, including attached and multi-family buildings.
  • Architectural registration is required; candidates actively pursuing registration may be considered.

Physical demands and work environment:
  • Primarily works in an office environment, routinely communicating with others and using a computer, telephone, and standard office equipment.
  • Requires prolonged sitting, with occasional standing, walking, reaching, and fine-motor activities such as typing and writing.
  • May occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull items weighing up to 25 pounds; must be able to read screens and printed materials.
  • Work environment may include an open-floor office setting.
