Your Opportunity

Stantec has an exciting opportunity for a Vancouver based Senior Mining Advisor to join our collaborative, vibrant, and supportive team. This position requires an individual with diverse and well-rounded mining experience to provide expert leadership in mining studies and projects. Willingness to lead and manage successful team projects, be a technical lead on multi-disciplinary projects, and perform business development functions are desirable traits for this role.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Business Development and Account Management: - Support and/or lead project pursuits and proposals for select clients and opportunities
  • Focus on building senior level client relationships within the Western Canadian market
  • Participate and engage in external events, representing Stantec, to support Stantec's visibility and reputation within the Western Canada / Vancouver market
  • Team Development: - Mentor and support the development of less experienced team members within the Energy and Resources business line
  • Support the identification and growth of select staff members into more client facing seller/doer roles
  • Seek and build relationships internally to explore opportunities in the region and beyond, and support pursuit plans
  • Contribute to strategic resource planning within the Canada West region
  • Project Delivery: - Manage various projects focused on mining studies and front-end scope
  • Interpret client objectives and study guidelines; define scope and execution plans with multi-disciplinary teams
  • Implement study management processes (risk/value management, option evaluation, assurance)
  • Deliver integrated studies on time and within budget, ensuring alignment across engineering, estimating, scheduling, and risk from early assessments to feasibility studies
  • Act as technical peer reviewer or Qualified Person; provide guidance to project teams to build technical competence
  • Support client communications and stakeholder engagement to present study progress and outcomes
  • Apply stage-gate processes and manage day-to-day execution for a global project portfolio

Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Ability to lead multi-disciplinary, high performing teams
  • Ability to direct others in the use of efficiency and financial programs such as Excel, Deswik, GoldSim, or similar packages.
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills demonstrable through the reporting and presentation process
  • Attention to detail and strong QA/QC skills
  • Understanding of fulsome mining projects from concept to execution
  • An existing and well-established network within the mining industry is an asset
  • The ability to demonstrate innovation within the mining process in past projects or roles
  • Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • B.Sc. in Mining, Civil, or Geotechnical Engineering, Master's degree preferred
  • Minimum of 20 years of experience consulting within the mining industry
  • Prior experience managing complex mining projects and overseeing technical studies
  • Currently licensed as a P.Eng. (Professional Engineer) in the province of British Columbia

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
