This role will support the design, procurement, and fabrication of equipment for onshore and offshore oil & gas facilities, as well as emerging renewable energy projects.
Job Overview/Summary:As a Mechanical Engineer, you will contribute to all phases of project execution - from conceptual design and detailed engineering to procurement support, fabrication, and field execution. You'll work closely with multidisciplinary teams, clients, and vendors to deliver safe, efficient, and cost-effective designs.
Responsibilities and Duties:- Contribute to conceptual engineering, FEED, and detailed design for onshore and offshore facilities (Greenfield and Brownfield).
- Size, specify, and prepare datasheets for mechanical/process equipment (vessels, tanks, pumps, compressors, turbines, fans, blowers, utilities, etc.).
- Develop technical specifications, requisitions, and bid evaluations for equipment packages.
- Perform engineering calculations including hydraulics, relief/vent sizing, PSV and control valve sizing, tank venting, and supervision of pipe stress analysis.
- Prepare and review P&IDs, flow diagrams, equipment layouts, and offshore modification permit packages (SFDs, SAFE charts, fire & gas layouts, permit letters).
- Conduct engineering studies, hazard/risk assessments, debottlenecking analyses, API 14C compliance, and regulatory compliance checks (BSEE, USCG, ABS).
- Prepare bid packages and review vendor drawings for compliance with project requirements.
- Coordinate with drafting/design teams to deliver accurate drawings and layouts.
- Monitor and report progress against project scope, schedule, and budget.
- Support procurement, vendor interfaces, and regulatory submittals.
- Perform site visits (onshore and offshore) to collect data, survey existing facilities, and support upgrades or modifications.
- Provide assistance during construction, commissioning, startup, and troubleshooting.
- Conduct vendor shop inspections to verify compliance with specifications.
- Work closely with other engineering disciplines to deliver integrated designs.
- Communicate effectively with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams.
- Participate in project meetings and contribute to planning and execution strategies.
- Provide professional mentorship to junior engineers.
Required Skills/Qualifications:- B.S. or higher in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
- 15+ years of relevant oil and gas engineering experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (intermediate to advanced); working knowledge of Word, PowerPoint, and Project.
- Strong analytical, detail-oriented, organizational, and communication skills (written and verbal).
- Ability to work multiple projects, work overtime as needed, and travel 10% (typical) or as required by project.
