Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team.

Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Lead mechanical engineering activities throughout the lifecycle of aircraft modification, system integration, and aerospace engineering projects supporting U.S. Army aviation programs.
  • Serve as a senior technical contributor and subject matter expert in mechanical design, aircraft integration, engineering analysis, and technical problem resolution.
  • Lead the development, analysis, and documentation of mechanical designs for aircraft systems, components, structures, equipment, and installations.
  • Develop and review engineering reports, calculations, analyses, drawings, specifications, technical data packages, and other engineering deliverables in accordance with program and customer requirements.
  • Lead mechanical design and integration efforts for aircraft modifications, including equipment installation, structural interfaces, mounting provisions, mechanical interfaces, and associated aircraft systems.
  • Perform and review engineering analyses related to structural integrity, mechanical interfaces, equipment installation, weight and balance, environmental considerations, vibration, loads, and system performance.
  • Lead the development and review of engineering substantiation supporting aircraft modification, airworthiness, safety, qualification, verification, and validation activities.
  • Interpret and apply engineering drawings, specifications, technical data, parts lists, military standards, and applicable industry standards.
  • Lead multidisciplinary technical efforts involving mechanical, electrical, systems, manufacturing, configuration management, quality, and other engineering disciplines.
  • Work directly with government customers, vendors, suppliers, and engineering partners to define requirements, resolve technical issues, and develop practical engineering solutions.
  • Lead design reviews, engineering change activities, technical investigations, and resolution of complex design and integration issues.
  • Review and technically assess engineering analyses, drawings, models, calculations, and technical products developed by other engineers.
  • Provide technical direction, mentorship, and guidance to mid-level and less experienced engineers.
  • Support proposal development, engineering estimates, technical planning, trade studies, and other business development activities as needed.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of mechanical engineering processes, tools, standards, and best practices.

Requirements and Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related engineering discipline from an ABET-accredited college or university; master's degree preferred.
  • 8-15 years of relevant experience in mechanical engineering, aerospace, military aviation, aircraft modification, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience leading mechanical engineering activities for complex aerospace, defense, or military systems.
  • Extensive experience with mechanical design, 3D CAD modeling, engineering analysis, and aircraft system integration.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently analyze complex mechanical engineering problems and develop technically sound recommendations.
  • Experience developing and reviewing engineering documentation supporting aircraft modification, airworthiness, safety, qualification, verification, and validation activities.
  • Strong technical writing, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide technical leadership and mentor less experienced engineers.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Active Secret clearance or ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
  • Up to 10% travel.

Preferred Experience and Knowledge
  • Advanced experience with SolidWorks or comparable 3D CAD and engineering design software.
  • Experience supporting U.S. Army aviation programs, particularly rotary-wing aircraft.
  • Experience with UH-60 or other Army aviation platforms.
  • Experience with aircraft modification, installation design, system integration, sustainment, or engineering change activities.
  • Strong understanding of aircraft mechanical and structural interfaces, equipment mounting, aircraft installations, and mechanical system integration.
  • Familiarity with Army aviation standards, military specifications, technical manuals, and DoD engineering processes.
  • Experience supporting airworthiness and structural substantiation, including development or review of engineering analyses and technical justification.
  • Experience with technical data packages, engineering change proposals, configuration-controlled documentation, and installation drawings.
  • Experience working directly with government customers, Program Executive Offices, Aviation and Missile Command organizations, or defense contractors.
  • Experience providing technical leadership on proposals, engineering studies, trade studies, or program-level technical planning.
