Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Mechanical and Plumbing Engineer of Record on projects
  • Lead and coordinate mechanical and plumbing design phases
  • Establish and maintain client relations during project discussions
  • Ensure code compliance through meetings with governing agencies
  • Manage workload to ensure timely completion of project documents
  • Conduct project site work sessions with the Project Manager
  • Review mechanical and plumbing documents for interdisciplinary conflicts
  • Select mechanical and plumbing equipment and write specifications
  • Collaborate on change documents and project amendments
  • Administer construction contracts as needed
  • Perform QA/QC on team members’ work
  • Monitor financial aspects and coordinate project timelines
  • Guide technical personnel in various tasks
  • Perform additional duties as required

In the role of Senior Mechanical Engineer, we'll count on you to:

  • Assume the mechanical lead and be the Mechanical and Plumbing Engineer of Record (EOR) on many projects.
  • Assume the mechanical lead and lead and coordinate mechanical and plumbing design through the schematic design development and contract document phase of a project.
  • Establish client relations, and participate in the marketing, design and production meetings with regard to mechanical systems.
  • Establish meetings and participate in reviews with various governing agencies for code compliance.
  • Coordinate workload to complete the documents on schedule.
  • Conduct work sessions at the project site in conjunction with the Project Manager and other disciplines.
  • Review mechanical and plumbing documents for areas of conflict with all disciplines.
  • Write and edit mechanical and plumbing specifications and select mechanical and plumbing equipment, systems, and devices.
  • Coordinate with and assist affected disciplines with addenda, RFIs, CPRs and change orders, and take responsibility to incorporate agreed-upon changes into the project documents.
  • Provide construction contract administration as needed.
  • Conduct QA/QC on the work of other Mechanical Project Engineers, Mechanical Project Coordinators, or Mechanical CAD/BIM Technicians as needed.
  • Track the financial aspects of projects, and coordinate and adjust the work efforts with the team to ensure that the work is completed within the parameters of the agreed-upon schedule.
  • Work with the Project Manager, Regional Controller, and Regional Director for project reviews with corporate management as needed.
  • Give direction to clerical and technical personnel as needed.
  • Perform other duties as needed.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum ten (10) years' experience in mechanical and plumbing system design for federal, commercial, and/or institutional facilities
  • Water/Wastewater, Science and Technology, Hospitality, and/or Finance facilities experience is a plus
  • Project Management experience is a plus
  • Proficiency in Revit, Trane Trace3D, IESVE, or similar software
  • Experience in sustainable design/LEED desired, but not required
  • Preference given to local candidates
