Responsibilities

  • Provide mechanical support to low-volume, high-mix manufacturing operations.
  • Define and develop new production processes, tooling, and fixtures.
  • Incorporate Design for Manufacturability (DFM) best practices to optimize designs for cost, assembly, and material availability.
  • Initiate and document change orders to drive product improvements.
  • Collaborate with R&D and Product Management to introduce new products that meet performance and manufacturability standards.
  • Work with the purchasing team to address procurement challenges and support suppliers with technical insights.
  • Support supplier selection and qualification while continuously seeking lean improvements for quality and cost reduction.

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Mechanical Engineer.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide mechanical support to our low-volume, high-mix manufacturing operation
  • Define and develop new Production Processes, Tooling and Fixtures
  • Incorporate DFM practices into designs such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials, ease of assembly, modular design, and cost.
  • Initiate change orders and gather the necessary supporting documentation
  • Work closely with R&D and Product Management to introduce new products that meet performance, cost, and manufacturability expectations.
  • Communicate regularly with the purchasing team to understand procurement challenges and aid suppliers with technical support
  • Contribute towards new supplier selection, qualification
  • Continually seek and implement quality improvements and cost reductions in a lean environment


Qualifications / Job Requirements
  • BS or MSin Mechanical, Electrical or Manufacturing Engineering
  • 5-7 years direct experience related to listed duties and responsibilities
  • Proficiency in 3-D solid modeling, preferably SolidWorks
  • Significant knowledge and experience with sheet metal, precision machined components, cable and harness, and assembly and test methodologies
  • Broad knowledge of electro-mechanical instrument manufacturing
  • Understanding of six sigma principles (belt level certifications are a plus)
  • Experience in successful implementation of Lean principles
  • Proven success in realizing tangible and significant cost reductions
  • Developed ability dealing with vendors to resolve mechanical issues
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001:2000 Quality Standards
  • Working with ePDM vault a plus
