Senior Mechanical Engineer!Your work environment at EXPWe are seeking a
Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our growing Water & Wastewater team in Sudbury or Barrie Ontario. In this role, you will lead the planning, design, and delivery of municipal and industrial water and wastewater treatment facilities, pumping stations, and related infrastructure projects. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies to develop innovative and sustainable engineering solutions that improve communities across Ontario.

What a day at EXP has in store for you - Lead the mechanical design of water and wastewater treatment facilities, pumping stations, reservoir systems, and related infrastructure projects.
- Prepare and oversee engineering calculations, technical specifications, reports, drawings, and contract documents.
- Design and specify mechanical process equipment, including:
- Pumps and pumping systems
- Blowers and aeration systems
- Chemical feed systems
- Odour control systems
- HVAC systems for treatment facilities
- Sludge handling and dewatering equipment
- Piping and process mechanical systems
- Conduct condition assessments, feasibility studies, master planning, and lifecycle evaluations of existing facilities.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior and intermediate engineers and designers.
- Coordinate with civil, structural, electrical, process, instrumentation, and automation disciplines.
- Manage project budgets, schedules, deliverables, and quality control requirements.
- Participate in client meetings, presentations, and business development initiatives.
- Review shop drawings, respond to RFIs, and provide engineering support during construction.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable Ontario regulations, industry standards, and municipal requirements.
What your experience looks like Required- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Ontario or eligibility for registration.
- 10+ years of related experience in water and wastewater treatment facility design.
- Strong understanding of municipal infrastructure projects and treatment processes.
- Experience preparing detailed design drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
- Knowledge of Ontario regulations, MECP requirements, and relevant industry standards.
- Experience working through all phases of project delivery, including planning, design, procurement, construction, and commissioning.
- Excellent communication, technical writing, and client-facing skills.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel within Ontario as required.
Preferred- Experience managing multidisciplinary engineering projects.
- Familiarity with alternative project delivery methods, including Design-Build and Progressive Design-Build.
- Construction administration and commissioning experience.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) designation is considered an asset.
- Experience with industrial water treatment or process mechanical systems.
Technical Skills- Mechanical design of water and wastewater treatment processes and facilities.
- Pumping system hydraulics and equipment selection.
- Process piping design and equipment layouts.
- HVAC and building services for industrial and municipal facilities.
- Equipment procurement and technical specification development.
- Construction support and commissioning services.
- Proficiency with engineering software and design tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, Plant 3D, BIM platforms, and hydraulic modeling software.

The salary range for this role is between $109- 140K. The actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location.
