Job Description:OverviewThis position is located in Charlotte, NC. Candidates must live in a reasonable commuting distance.Key Responsibilities- Respond to wind/solar/battery site requests for technical assistance, which may encompass mechanical, structural, or civil engineering concepts related to various aspects of the generation plant
- Conduct/manage root cause analysis investigations and provide feedback to operations for improvement
- Champion reliability engineering best practices, standardization efforts, and performance benchmarking across the fleet
- Possess and apply engineering fundamentals, practices and procedures; proficient in technical and analytical competencies
- Leverage and continuously improve the Request for Technical Assistance (RTA) and Management of Change (MOC) programs, ensuring technical rigor, process discipline, risk mitigation, and timely resolution of complex operational issues
- Contribute to Operations & Maintenance (O&M) cost modeling efforts for prospective wind, solar, and battery storage projects, providing technical and financial guidance to Development, Finance, and Underwriting teams to inform investment decisions and long-term asset strategy
- Synthesize complex technical, operational, and financial data into executive-level presentations and reports; provide clear recommendations to senior leadership that drive business outcomes
- Mentor and provide technical leadership to junior engineers and cross-functional stakeholders, fostering a culture of engineering excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement
Basic Qualifications- Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
- In addition to a degree, five (5) years or more of relevant engineering experience, including progressive responsibility in asset performance, reliability, or operations engineering
Preferred Qualifications- Master's degree or Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering
- In addition to a degree, six (6) years or more of relevant experience, particularly experience with wind turbines and related components (drivetrain, blades, towers, foundations, hydraulic systems, condition monitoring, etc.)
- Understanding of the principles of project management and use of project management tools
- Demonstrated ability to lead structured root cause investigations using formal RCA methodologies and tools
- Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional technical initiatives that deliver measurable business results
- Strong background in reliability engineering, condition monitoring, and asset performance optimization
- Demonstrated expertise in O&M cost modeling and lifecycle cost optimization
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities, influence stakeholders, and exercise sound engineering judgment in high-impact decisions
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience presenting to executive leadership.
- Experience mentoring engineers and leading technical development initiatives
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Power BI
