Who You AreThe Senior Mechanical Engineer provides technical leadership in the design, analysis, fabrication support, testing and implementation of engineered systems for industrial, government, and nuclear applications. Your role in this process will include the review and approval of various design documentation including 3D system models, 2D design drawings, technical reports, and engineering calculations. This position is responsible for developing engineering solutions, reviewing technical documentation, supporting project execution, and ensuring compliance with applicable customer requirements, engineering standards and regulatory expectations. This is an upper-level mechanical engineering position with opportunities for advancement based on productivity, efficiency, and experience.

JobResponsibilities/Duties- Assessand clarify client specifications to establish design/engineering scope andtechnical requirements.
- Provide technical oversight to ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and project requirements.
- Perform and document design calculations to ensure design is compliant with client specifications and applicable codes and standards.
- Assist with the preparation of scope, cost, and schedules for future project/tasks.
- Provide technical guidance to AVANTech subcontractors in the execution of design, engineering, analyses, fabrication, or testing support.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to engineers and designers.
- Serve as a technical resource during customer reviews and audits.
- Evaluate engineering impacts associated with fabrication issues and field conditions.
- Support implementation of engineering controls necessary to meet customer, regulatory, and contractual requirements.
- Maintain engineering documentation sufficient to support project traceability, design verification, and long-term configuration management.
- Apply disciplined engineering practices appropriate for safety-significant and mission-critical systems.
RequiredQualifications- Bachelorof Science (B.S.) Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college/university or related technical discipline.
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) license preferred, not required.
- Minimum of 10 years' related experience
- Significant nuclear experience with government or commercial nuclear clients if required. Preferred design experience that's directly associated with the Department of Energy.
- Experience with pressure vessels, piping systems, structural design, and custom engineered systems.
- Familiarity with NQA-1, ASME Section III, ASME Section VIII, ASME B31.3, ASCE 7-22, AWS Welding codes, or similar industry standards.
- Familiarity with various types of design software (SolidWorks, Creo Parametric, COMPRESS, Mathcad, etc.)
