Senior Mechanical Engineer

ATI has a current need for a Senior Mechanical Engineer for complex, multimillion dollar construction projects. Work will be at Redstone Arsenal in Madison County, Alabama.

Duties and Responsibilities

Duties may include, but not be limited to, the following:

  • Review and comment on Contractor mechanical and control submittals;
  • Review and respond to Contractor questions;
  • Observe and identify construction and contract deficiencies;
  • Review and comment on Contractor RFI/RFCs;
  • Observe Contractor performance daily and record/report on observations;
  • Coordinate mechanical project issues;
  • Make written recommendations to the COR;
  • Compute time extensions;
  • Inspect Contractor plant, materials, and equipment daily;
  • Review Contractor QC Reports daily;
  • Take photographic documentation as appropriate;
  • Review Contractor punch lists;
  • Assist in preparing change order and claim documents;
  • Make construction-minded determinations on meeting contract requirements and practicability;
  • Coordinate requests for equitable adjustment and claims; and
  • Make technical interpretations of drawings/specifications


Required Qualifications and Experience

  • 10+ years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer on complex multimillion dollar construction projects with varying types of mechanical systems;
  • Hold a current Professional Engineering license;
  • Understanding of applicable building design codes and specifications such as the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) design standards; National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) codes; International Mechanical Code (IMC); International Plumbing Code (IPC); and International Building Code (IBC);
  • Experience with USACE's 3-Phase QC/Inspection process, EM 385-1-1 USACE Safety Manual, and the Resident Management System (RMS) is preferred;
  • Experience using Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a high level of professionalism;
  • Candidates must be US Citizens and must be able to obtain a government clearance, and
  • Position requires frequent and recurring construction inspections, which include walking, climbing, stooping, and bending at various elevations and uneven terrain.


Job Type: Full-time

Pay Range: $135,000 - $150,000/year depending on experience

Location: Redstone Arsenal in Madison County, Alabama

Working Hours: Normal Work Hours - Monday - Friday (anticipate 40 per week).
