Allegion is looking for a passionate Senior Mechanical Engineer responsible for New Product Development. As a Senior Mechanical Engineering, you will work as part of a highly engaged small team within a global organization of 12,000+ employees, representing 30+ brands (including Schlage, Von Duprin and LCN) focused on safety, security and access management. What You Will Do:- Responsible for the design and development of new and improved designs for Allegion's commercial sliding door systems and glass curtainwall products.
- Utilize engineering tools (FMEA, Root Cause Analysis, GD&T, Tolerance Stack Analysis, DFM/DFA) to ensure that requirement risks are evaluated and mitigated early in the design process
- Develop required design documentation, 3D models/drawings and instructions for manufacturing and product test requirements. Experience with Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD are a plus.
- Communicate project status through reports, presentations and design reviews.
- Perform project tasks to ensure that projects are completed within acceptable time and cost targets.
- Define design trade-offs as necessary to ensure the highest level of product performance and quality when considering product cost, manufacturability, and available technologies
- Responsibilities could include technical leadership of cross-functional teams, leading design reviews and supplier reviews, developing technical documentation, product change management, and/or process development/enhancement.
- Work with vendors to source and evaluate purchased components and with manufacturing to produce or assemble manufactured components and assemblies.
- Support product test development and execution.
- Fabricate, assemble, and test prototypes during the product development process
What You Need to Succeed:- BS in Mechanical Engineering
- 5+ years of experience in design, development, implementation, and integration of mechanical systems
- Proficiency with engineering tools including FMEA, Root Cause Analysis, GD&T, Tolerance Stack Analysis, Finite Element Analysis & DFM/DFA
- Experience of manufacturing processes including stamping, extrusions, casting, powder metal, machining, injection molding, and rapid prototyping.
- Ability to quickly build proof-of-concept solutions that are forward looking to how they could be implemented on a larger scale
- Experience with CAD modeling and drafting proficiency, Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD preferred
- Proficiency with Product Lifecycle Software and processes, Windchill preferred
- Proficiency with prototyping and fabrication processes, such as 3D printing, hand tools, and manufacturing tooling
- Design for Six Sigma proficiency preferred.
- Ability leading teams that may be globally co-located.
- Be self-motivated mindset with strong engineering project management skills.

Compensation:This range is provided by Allegion. Your actual salary will be based on your skills and experience, along with other factors.
- The expected Base Salary Range: $106,800 - $141,700. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
