Full Job Description
Position Overview:

As a Senior Mechanical Development Engineer you will be part of a team responsible for the design, testing, development, and validation of engine fuel, lubrication, cooling, exhaust, valve train and power cylinder systems for Mercury Outboards, MerCruiser Sterndrive engines, and Mercury high-speed diesel marine engines. This role specifically will lead and support the development of power cylinder and valve train systems.

Essential Functions:
  • Lead development and test activities for power cylinder and valve train systems.
  • Determine functional requirements related to the systems of responsibility ensuring program goals are met.
  • Work with component engineers, suppliers, and the analysis group to verify component designs meet system requirements.
  • Develop component & system level FMEAs and DVPs. Then, using the test plan identified, execute the required testing and document results.
  • Utilize Concerto / Uniplot / Catman software packages to review and analyze data.
  • Create technical reports documenting development activities and present results and recommendations to Program and Design Engineering Management.
  • Must be able to work independently when needed to develop solutions with little supervision. Must also be able to work well with cross-functional groups including technicians, design engineers, analysis engineers, and program managers.
  • Support company goals within a team structure and as an individual.


Required Qualifications:
  • B.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • 6+ years of engineering experience working with internal combustion engine mechanical systems
  • Hands-on engine experience


Preferred Qualifications:
  • M.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Experience with power cylinder or valve train development.


The anticipated pay range for this position is $86,500 - $139,300 annually. The actual base pay offered will vary depending on multiple factors including job-related knowledge/skills, relevant experience, business needs, and geographic location. In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus program. At Brunswick, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top end of the salary range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent upon the specifics of the candidate's qualifications and the business context.
