Full Job Description
Position Summary

Under the general direction of the Department of Tourism Communications Officer, this position will execute and coordinate marketing content and collateral materials to support the Department's overall strategic plan. This includes managing an integrated content calendar for Department-wide industry-facing messaging, as well as consumer-facing marketing communications and content, including serving as a contact for national and international media and several other internal and external stakeholders.

This position also plays a critical role in marketing content for the Office of the Secretary and other bureaus, including creating, editing and distributing marketing communications materials. It requires the ability to integrate marketing and branding initiatives into various marketing content, as well as demonstrating strategic thinking and application of insights to execute programs that meet goals and drive growth.

Salary Information

This position is in schedule-range 07-03 (Marketing Specialist-Senior) with an hourly salary of $35.00-$45.00 per hour, plus excellent benefits. Pay for current state employees will be set in accordance with the Wisconsin State Compensation Plan. A 12- month probationary period is required. This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

Job Details

All employees are expected to live and work in Wisconsin. This position is headquartered at Travel Wisconsin's office in Madison, WI (3319 West Beltline Highway, Madison, WI 53708) and will be required to come into the office a minimum of four days per month and provide office schedule coverage in accordance with the Wisconsin Department of Tourism hybrid work policy. This schedule may change based on operational needs and organizational requirements. Employees will be required to come into the office for in person collaboration meetings occurring every other month. Employees will be required to report to the Madison office on their first day of employment.

Qualifications

  • Directing and implementing marketing strategies, including content development and brand style guide application
  • Developing email marketing campaigns, collateral materials, interview talking points, presentations and video content
  • Public relations, general editing, building media/FAM tour itineraries and AP Style
  • Utilizing website content management systems and writing web copy
  • Experience in the travel and tourism industry.


In addition, well-qualified applicants will have professional experience with one or more of the following:

  • Measuring and evaluating engagement and effectiveness of marketing content and communications campaigns
  • Leading FAM trips and serving as a spokesperson
  • Drafting materials and executing the process for annual and economic

    impact reports, including communication with stakeholders and media.
  • Social media content creation and content calendar management
