The Opportunity
We are looking for a talented and motivated Senior Market Analyst to strengthen our Gas and LNG Market research presence in the US. The candidate will be responsible for providing natural gas and LNG industry expertise. The role is part of Rystad Energy's Gas and LNG Commodity Market research team that is responsible for global and regional natural gas and LNG market research.
The candidate will contribute with analysis of the global and North American gas market covering data collection and forecasts for upstream, midstream and downstream, including storage, pipeline, LNG trade flows and price formation using our bottom-up approach to data. The candidate should have an in-depth understanding of short-term to long-term LNG market dynamics and be able to combine quantitative and qualitative inputs to deliver insights and forecasts to our global client base.
Job Responsibilities
• Lead analysis of North America gas and LNG markets, reflecting an understanding of regional and global supply, demand, pricing, and flows.
• Creating models using data gathered from primary research and proprietary Rystad Energy datasets to forecast supply, demand, and pricing trends for country-wide and regional markets as well as global markets.
• • Track developments in the liquefaction and pipeline projects and bring insights to the process of forecasting future supply and flows.
• Create and deliver effective presentations and impactful research notes showcasing findings from data analysis and market research. Senior analysts are often involved in support gas and LNG-related consulting projects.
• Contribute to global forecasting processes for international gas balances and prices
• Produce quantitative and qualitative research reports and commentaries delivering strategic market outlook
• Participation at conferences and client meetings, and assist with business development activities
Requirements / Skills
• Minimum 5 years of direct industry experience in energy and gas market research or competitor intelligence groups at E&P, midstream or LNG companies
• Strong academic track record in the relevant education field (e.g. economics, engineering, finance, information technology)
• Demonstrated ability to synthesize data and information coming from multiple sources (quantitative and qualitative)
• Ability to handle and process large data sets, preferably using Python or any other commonly used programming language is a plus
• Solid proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a hands-on attitude
• Commercial mindset
• Outstanding team player, also fully capable of working independently
• Occasional travel for client visits and industry events
