Full Job Description
We are currently seeking a full-time Senior Manufacturing Engineer. This position is responsible to transition designs to manufacturable solutions as well as provide continuous engineering support to the production team. The expectation is also to provide mentorship and instruction to junior engineers as well as work closely with program management, quality, and other internal teams.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Provide engineering and prototyping support with a focus on manufacturability and assembly throughout the design, transition, and sustain portions of the product development process.
  • Generate complete engineering packages (including bill of materials, fully dimensioned piece part drawings, top level assemblies, process documents, etc.) required to produce products at high volume.
  • Conduct prototype builds in conjunction with operations team. Document and implement changes to reduce build time and decrease cost of the system.
  • Lead Operational Process Improvement initiatives. Identify areas of opportunity, generate a business case, and work with cross functional teams to implement solutions to increase Wilcox productivity, decrease cost, and reduce rework.
  • Lead troubleshooting of technical issues on the production line. Clearly communicate the plan of action with all stakeholders.
  • Interface directly with the program, manufacturing, quality, and purchasing teams. Quickly work with programmers, and machine operators.
  • Contribute to comprehensive design reviews throughout the product development cycle.
  • Communicate the status of assigned work including current progress, estimated time to completion, risks, and any required software, equipment, tools, etc. necessary to accomplish assigned work.
  • Work within defined document control processes. Manage the PDM environment for programs.
  • Develop prototype and production test fixtures, inspection requirements and procedures as required.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers.
  • Conduct engineering trainings as requested.
  • Ensures compliance with ITAR, EAR and other federal requirements.
  • Perform other duties as necessary when directed to do so to support business needs.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • BS in Engineering and 8+ years of experience, or an equivalent combination of 12 years education, training, and experience.
  • A high degree of technical expertise in electro-mechanical system design.
  • Strong understanding of GD&T, tolerance stack-up, and fit check analysis.
  • Proven designs making use of machined, molded, casting, extruded and other manufacturing methods.
  • Able to adapt to modern software and work methodologies.
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communications skills.
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Static FEA experience
  • Experience with military standards, specifically MIL-STD-810 and MIL-STD-461 a plus
  • Familiar with rapid prototype methods such as 3D printers
  • Regular on-site attendance is a necessary function of this position.
