Duties & Responsibilities: Job Description:
The manufacturing engineer shall be the technical resource for the manufacturing area and report directly to the Manufacturing Manager.
Job Responsibilities:
- Perform Time Studies for the different processes.
- Troubleshoot products in Surface Mount Technology Assembly, Manual Assembly & Housing (MASH), Potting,
- Conformal Coating & Rework processes.
- Provide design for manufacturability feedback to product design engineers.
- Control of incoming & in-process quality of Solder Paste.
- Set up, program & maintenance of:
- Solder Paste Printing Equipment.
- SMT automated pick and place assembly equipment.
- SMT Reflow Ovens, & Temperature Profiling.
- Laser equipment.
- Soldering Robot.
- Implement and document new product SMT assembly procedures.
- Able to run the SMT Area Equipment in emergencies occasions when operator is not available.
- Design & improvement of:
- Manual solder assembly fixtures
- Robotic soldering fixtures
- Laser cutting / de-paneling fixtures.
- Design & maintain equipment & fixtures for:
- Robotic encapsulation / potting.
- Automated bolting robot.
- Develop torque values used in manufacturing processes.
- Provide engineering support & solutions to day-to-day operation of SMT Assembly, MASH,
- Potting, Conformal Coating & Rework processes.
Pre-Requisites / Skills / Experience Requirements: Qualifications & Experience:
Qualified candidates will have a BS in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with 5 or more years of experience.
SMT electronic assembly manufacturing experience. Further qualifications include:
- SMT automated placement [pick& place] equipment programming experience.
- Front end & Back-end experience
- SMT experience on Design of stencil, fixtures, carriers, and tooling for electronic assemblies [PCAs].
- Experience / Knowledge using CAM 350.
- Maintenance Experience in SMT placement equipment, Reflow Oven, & Solder Paste Printer.
- Potting and Conformal Coating experience
- Facility / Assembly Floor Layout Experience.
- AS9100 or ISO9001, & inertial systems experience a plus, but not necessarily.
- IPC-A-610, J-STD-001, DESIGN STANDARDS experience a plus, but not necessarily.
- Strong SolidWorks/CAD experience (part modeling, assemblies, drawings)
- Proficiency with 3D printing (FDM preferred)
- Ability to create and interpret engineering drawings (SolidWorks preferred)
- DFM experience for FDM 3D printing and CNC machining
- Understanding of GD&T
- Experience using pneumatic systems in manufacturing environment.
- Understanding of materials and their properties
- Stainless steels, aluminums, titanium, engineering plastics, FDM printing filaments.
