Job Responsibilities:

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • Post-secondary education in Mechanical, Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering
  • Minimum six (6) years experience in manufacturing engineering within an automotive assembly or related manufacturing industry
  • Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Practical experience in costing and quoting
  • Experience in Project Management
  • Experience with CAD, preferably AutoCAD
  • Good organizational, verbal and written communication skills
  • Appropriate presentation skills for customer interface
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to uphold confidentiality
  • Demonstrates the ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Ability to work overtime to meet customer needs


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Leads the end-to-end implementation of collaborative robot (cobot) technology, including business case development, supplier coordination, mechanical and controls integration, safety approvals, operator training, and performance optimization.
  • Handles large scale projects from inception to completion (timing, concept, feasibility, design, process failure mode and effects analysis (PFMEAs), construction, try-out, launch, final buy-off (production part approval process [PPAP] and run at rate), prototype programs, and engineering changes) with minimal follow-up by leadership.
  • Conducts appropriate Manpower efficiency studies - through time and motion studies or standard data (MOST is the Modatek standard), line balancing manpower, machine charts and analysis
  • Prepares reports, charts and other documentation required for engineering records and projects
  • Works with all departments and customers to design solutions that improve production efficiency, ergonomics, safety and maintenance related issues
  • Supports continuous improvement initiatives
  • Assists in developing material handling logistics (i.e. - Aisle layout, bin placement, dunnage assists, etc.)
  • Reviews, monitors and co-ordinates tooling design, build, approval process and capital budgets
  • Supervises equipment relocation and installation to Modatek
  • Assists in setting up preventative maintenance program and spare parts for new equipment
  • Assists in resolving quality, operational, production and maintenance concerns
  • Reviews, co-ordinates and implements all customer approved engineering changes, including part level communication updates, physical part update, process sheet update, physical tooling change, etc.
  • Knows and understands process documentation and customer specific requirements as they relate to this job function
  • Follows and complies with all Operational Procedures and Policies as outlined in the Employee Handbook, Quality and Environment programs (i.e. TS16949, ISO14001)
  • Understands, promotes and lives by Magna's philosophies and Employee Charter
  • Adheres to Modatek's core values; integrity, respect, trust, honesty, fairness and loyalty
  • Follows Magna's Code of Conduct and Ethics and related compliance policies.
  • Performs all duties in an environmentally responsible manner in accordance with the Modatek Systems Environmental Policy

WORKER HEALTH AND SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Maintains safety standards of equipment and work area and perform all duties in a safe manner in accordance with the safety policies of Modatek Systems
  • Performs all duties in a safe manner in accordance with Section 28 of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulation 851 for Industrial Establishments

WORK AND PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT:
  • Office environment, but may be exposed to elements such as temperature and noise during time spent in the plant
  • Flexible to travel to meet customer demands
  • Physically able to perform the essential duties of the position
