Senior Manufacturing Cost Accountant

About the Role

E&E Manufacturing is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Cost Accountant to own our product costing and customer pricing analysis. This is a highly visible role reporting directly to the CFO, with a mandate to bring clarity and rigor to how we understand cost, margin, and pricing across our customer base. You will be the go-to person for answering the question "are we making money on this part, this program, this customer?" - and for making sure that answer is trustworthy, current, and easy to act on.

This role is critical to our broader margin improvement effort: building the cost infrastructure and pricing discipline that lets leadership make confident decisions about which business to pursue, renegotiate, or walk away from.

What You'll Do

  • Own and maintain standard costs across all products/parts in Plex, including material, labor, and overhead components
  • Build and maintain customer- and part-level gross margin visibility, making pricing and profitability transparent across the full customer portfolio
  • Partner with the CFO to investigate and resolve margin anomalies - including underpriced or loss-making customer programs - and recommend corrective pricing actions
  • Maintain and continuously improve the standard cost structure, including periodic cost roll-ups, BOM accuracy reviews, and labor/overhead rate updates
  • Analyze variances (purchase price, labor, overhead, scrap) and explain root causes to finance and operations leadership
  • Support customer pricing decisions and quoting with accurate, current cost data
  • Maintain pricing files/records for existing customer agreements and flag contracts where cost has drifted from priced assumptions
  • Assist with month-end close as it relates to inventory, COGS, and cost-related journal entries
  • Support annual physical inventory and cycle count reconciliation
  • Prepare ad hoc margin and profitability analysis for the CFO and executive leadership
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, purchasing, and engineering to ensure costing reflects real production conditions

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA or CMA a plus
  • 5+ years of progressive cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment (senior-level)
  • Hands-on experience with standard costing, BOMs, and cost roll-ups
  • Experience with Plex ERP strongly preferred
  • Strong Excel skills; comfortable building and maintaining margin/pricing models
  • Demonstrated ability to translate cost data into clear, decision-ready insight for non-finance stakeholders
  • High attention to detail with the ability to independently investigate and resolve discrepancies
  • Comfortable working directly with executive leadership and operating with a high degree of autonomy

Nice to Have

  • Experience in automotive or industrial component manufacturing
  • Exposure to multi-site or multinational manufacturing operations
  • Prior experience supporting customer price negotiations or contract reviews

Why This Role Matters

You'll have direct line of sight to the CFO and a real mandate to fix how the business sees its own margins - not a back-office costing role buried in close-cycle mechanics, but a seat at the table for pricing and profitability strategy.
