Senior Vertical Strategy Manager - Travel & Mobility

Team TLDR: Own customer strategy; lead the way on where we play, how we win and who we win with in a vertical.

The Travel & Mobility vertical is one of the key drivers of Adyen's business where we have seen success with businesses like Uber, Tesla, Sixt, Booking.com and KLM in the Enterprise space. The key to our success is partnering closely with our customers to identify their needs, support their growth and drive success for the Travel & Mobility vertical. We define Travel & Mobility as any business operating across Airlines, Online Travel Agencies, Ride-Hailing, Car Rental, Automotive & EV.

We are particularly interested in candidates from the Mobility part of the vertical - Ride-hailing, Rental, Automotive & EV.

About the Role

The role is a part of the broader Commercial Strategy & GTM team at Adyen. Our team mission is to position Adyen as the global fintech leader and to grow our commercial success within and across our key verticals.

As Senior Vertical Strategy Manager you will play a critical role in our success by driving the commercial direction and revenue growth initiatives for net new business acquisition as well as growth of existing customers within the Travel & Mobility vertical.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in payments and financial technology services, combined with deep industry expertise across one or more of the following sectors: airlines, online travel agencies, shared mobility, and automotive.. They should also have exceptional strategic thinking abilities, acute analytical depth and a proven track record of driving commercial success.

What you'll do
  • Key driver of the health and performance of the Travel & Mobility vertical; you will support the general management of the vertical.
  • Define and drive key elements of the global commercial strategy for the vertical. All strategies and initiatives should support the definition of where, with whom, what, when and how to sell to merchants. Your strategies will account for market nuances to ensure commercial teams can execute flawlessly.
  • Be an SME for Travel & Mobility. You can speak intelligently about the space with the most strategic customers and you can champion the right initiatives internally.
  • Analyze vertical specific customer behavior to identify opportunities for product and service innovation and differentiation.
  • Work closely with the Offering team to align on needle-moving product priorities to build a strong value proposition for our Travel & Mobility vertical
  • As the voice of customer for the vertical, work closely with the Offering team to champion the vertical by:
    • Providing vertical trends, opportunities and customer pain points to inform needs as input to product prioritization
    • Inform product pricing strategies and packaging strategies to maximize profitability and market share within the vertical
    • Providing the vertical nuance to global commercial enablement
  • Develop and maintain customer segmentation to identify and pursue opportunities for revenue growth and market expansion.
  • Inform vertical and broader Adyen strategies with the latest industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes that may impact the vertical, and proactively identify strategic opportunities or risks.

Who you are
  • Deep experience in the Travel & Mobility industry
  • You are passionate about the Travel & Mobility vertical space and the success of our customers in this vertical. You are customer-centric at your core
  • Have a strong ability to develop winning strategies in the vertical and can navigate / tackle current blockers
  • Experience and passion for GTM strategy & execution
  • You are a natural stakeholder and can easily build and maintain strong relationships
  • Can package various customer feedback into tangible, data-driven business cases that will drive influence
  • Strong verbal communication skills to drive influence internally and be an exceptional Adyen ambassador and thought leader externally
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity and thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Available to travel up to 25% of the time, including internationally
