Senior Manager, Technical Accounting & SEC Reporting to join our Corporate Accounting team and play a key role as we continue to grow our global business.
This is a highly visible position for an experienced accounting professional who enjoys more than one lane. You'll work across
technical accounting, SEC reporting, SOX, complex transactions, and acquisition integration, partnering with leaders throughout Finance, Legal, Operations, IT, and our global businesses.
The role is particularly well suited for someone who has built a strong technical accounting foundation-whether through public accounting, a public company environment, or a combination of both-and is ready for broader exposure and the opportunity to help shape accounting practices as the company grows.
What You'll Do- Serve as a key technical accounting resource, researching and evaluating complex accounting matters under U.S. GAAP and developing clear, well-supported accounting conclusions and documentation.
- Support AMSC's SEC reporting process, including quarterly and annual filings and financial statement disclosures.
- Play an active role in the company's SOX control environment, partnering across the organization to maintain and strengthen appropriate accounting processes and controls.
- Provide technical accounting guidance in areas such as revenue recognition, inventory, reserves, contract accounting, acquisitions, and other complex or judgmental matters.
- Partner with Corporate Accounting on monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting and identify unusual activity or accounting matters requiring further analysis.
- Take a leading role in the accounting and finance aspects of acquisitions and post-close integration, including purchase accounting, opening balance sheet activities, process alignment, controls, systems, and financial reporting.
- Partner with newly acquired businesses to understand their accounting practices and help transition them into AMSC's accounting policies, controls, systems, and reporting environment.
- Work cross-functionally with Finance, Legal, Operations, IT, business leadership, external auditors, and advisors on transactions and strategic accounting initiatives.
- Help improve and scale accounting processes and systems to support continued company growth.
- Lead special projects and strategic accounting initiatives as business needs evolve.
- Mentor and develop accounting team members and serve as a trusted resource across the broader finance organization.
What We're Looking For- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA strongly preferred.
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally including public accounting and/or experience within a publicly traded company.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and technical accounting.
- Meaningful experience with SEC reporting, including 10-K and 10-Q reporting, and financial statement disclosures.
- Experience working within a SOX-controlled environment.
- Experience with mergers and acquisitions, transaction accounting, purchase accounting, or post-acquisition integration is highly desirable.
- Ability to research complex accounting matters, develop a position, and communicate conclusions clearly to both accounting and non-accounting audiences.
- Experience working across functions and with senior leadership in a dynamic organization.
- Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Experience with Oracle or another large ERP environment is a plus.
- Experience with global or multi-entity organizations is a plus.
Travel & Work EnvironmentThis position is based in
Ayer, Massachusetts, with an expectation of working onsite approximately
4 days per week when not traveling.
Travel will vary based on business and acquisition activity. There may be periods with limited travel, followed by periods of more significant domestic or international travel during acquisition and integration activities. Candidates should be comfortable with that flexibility.
Salary Range:$140,000-$170,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications.
You'll work closely with leaders across the business and have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on how our accounting organization evolves and scales.
