About the Role:

You will represent the Association's interest in legislative and regulatory based advocacy efforts. You will monitor, review, and evaluate tax legislative and regulatory tax issues for two assigned technical tax areas. Work with and motivate assigned technical resource panels (volunteers) to maximize effectiveness, quality and productivity related to advocacy efforts. Develop professionally written advocacy-based positions and communicate those positions with IRS, Treasury, Congressional tax writing committees, other developers and administrators of tax policy, and with members and the public. Collaborate with other AICPA teams (e.g., the Congressional and Legislative Affairs, and Tax Practice Management and Ethics Teams).

You will report to the Director - Tax Policy & Advocacy as an individual contributor and use a hybrid work schedule.

You Will:
  • Tax Policy and Advocacy. Lead the development of well-written advocacy positions. These positions include comment letters, position papers, testimony for Congressional and Internal Revenue Service hearings, and other advocacy documents. They focus on legislative or regulatory changes in the assigned technical areas.
  • Manage Technical Resource Panels. Manage technical resource panels to identify tax legislative and regulatory issues. Coordinate the development, and submission of approved advocacy positions (e.g. comment letters) in the assigned technical areas.
  • Outreach and Communications. Coordinate and help communicate practical information about advocacy efforts related to tax legislative and regulatory developments in the assigned technical areas to help educate members and the public, and promote advocacy efforts.
  • Broader Association Programs. Support our programs by reaching out to other Association teams and state societies, and working with outside organizations. Foster communication and collaboration across the organization.
  • Relationships. Develop relationships with individuals in government, such as the Internal Revenue Service and Department of the Treasury. Maintain these relationships to promote tax advocacy positions. Additionally, develop relationships with individuals in Congress, state societies, and other organizations. These relationships will help you stay informed of latest issues.

Salary range: $155,000-$175,000 per year. There is no non-wage compensation.
