Description & Requirements As a Senior Manager in the Sustainability Consulting & Assurance group, at Forvis Mazars you will play a key leadership role in delivering high-quality sustainability assurance and advisory services for a growing client base. This position is focused primarily on assurance engagements, but will also support consulting projects that help clients strengthen ESG data, reporting processes, internal controls, and stakeholder communications. You will lead engagement teams, work directly with clients and partners, and translate evolving sustainability reporting requirements into practical, well-executed solutions. What You Will Do: - Lead and manage sustainability assurance engagements, including planning, execution, review, reporting, and client communication.
- Oversee procedures related to ESG metrics, greenhouse gas emissions, sustainability disclosures, reporting processes, and related controls.
- Coordinate with clients, partners, and engagement teams to evaluate ESG data collection, documentation, governance, and reporting readiness.
- Apply recognized sustainability reporting and assurance frameworks, including GHG Protocol, TCFD, GRI, SASB, CDP, and other relevant standards or regulatory requirements.
- Support clients in identifying opportunities to improve ESG reporting processes, data quality, internal controls, and assurance preparedness.
- Prepare and review client deliverables, reports, workpapers, presentations, and other engagement documentation.
- Build and maintain trusted client relationships while identifying opportunities to expand assurance and consulting services.
- Coach, develop, and review the work of team members while fostering a collaborative, high-performing team environment.
- Contribute to business development, proposal efforts, thought leadership, methodology development, and internal practice-building initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, finance, environmental studies, sustainability, or a related field.
- Active CPA license
- 7+ years of progressive experience in external audit, sustainability assurance, internal audit, ESG reporting, consulting, or a related professional services environment.
- Demonstrated experience leading projects, engagements, teams, or client workstreams.
- Familiarity with greenhouse gas reporting, ESG metrics, sustainability disclosures, and related reporting criteria.
- Experience evaluating processes, controls, documentation, and data quality in an audit, assurance, or reporting environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain complex sustainability and assurance concepts to clients and internal stakeholders.
- Ability to travel up to 20%.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience performing or supporting sustainability assurance engagements under recognized attestation or assurance standards.
- Knowledge of sustainability reporting frameworks, standards, and regulations, such as GHG Protocol, CSRD/ESRS, ISSB, GRI, SASB, TCFD, CDP, or SEC climate-related disclosure requirements.
- Understanding of ESG reporting software, data management tools, or technology-enabled reporting and assurance processes.
- Fundamentals of Sustainability Accounting credential (FSA Credential), GHG accounting credential, or other relevant sustainability, audit, or assurance certification.
- Prior experience in a public accounting, professional services, consulting firm, or corporate sustainability reporting function.
- Demonstrated ability to support practice development, client relationship growth, team development, and market-facing initiatives.
