Job Summary and Qualifications

The Senior Strategic Account Manager role is a primary driver in the relationship between HealthTrust Account Management and AdvantageTrust in the IDN non-acute space. Serves as regional team lead to the Account Management team, overseeing education, best practice, process maintenance, and an escalation point of risk. Responsible for maintaining and building strategic partnerships in our member base. Responsible for delivering best in class service to company membership and stakeholders to ensure implementation and alignment of supply chain solutions. Driving business growth within portfolio of assigned accounts; key drivers are helping our members reduce costs, improve quality, achieve standardization, and eliminate waste. Responsible for establishing and maintaining professional business relationships with members, vendors, and internal teams. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, delivering high quality work in a high demand work environment, is key. Assures all business partners have an outstanding experience with HealthTrust such that they would recommend and promote our services to others.

What you will do in this role:

  • Serves as a regional team lead to Account Management working towards effective member and vendor communications to promote portfolio alignment and increase competency
  • Provides training and helps Account Managers and Associate Account Managers advance through the Department's Account Management Development Plan
  • Coordinates support for Account Directors, assigning work and/or projects as approved by leadership.
  • Lead process improvement strategies that deliver more efficient and consistent me
  • Establishes and maintains professional business relationships, expedites HealthTrust contract participation and aligns HealthTrust service-line solutions for the benefit of assigned members
  • Acts as liaison between members and our internal teams to ensure timely and successful delivery of our solutions.
  • Achieve reputation for consistent quality, process and work-flow discipline, task execution, judicious exception, and risk management
  • Continually works to improve company and individual performance through measures of reliability, transparency, competency, sincerity, fairness, and vulnerability
  • Collaborate with both external and internal colleagues to identify opportunities for process improvement and to deliver more efficient and consistent customer value.
  • Practices and adhere to the "Code of Conduct" philosophy and "Mission and Value Statement."


Relationship Management

  • Manage and maintain levels of accounts up to include our largest ASC groups and annual spend up to $50 Mil per group.
  • Primary in managing Critical Access Hospitals ensuring contract penetration, compliance, and member retention.
  • Prepares agendas and related data analytics for meetings and quarterly business reviews.
  • Participates in member meetings and serves as committee leads as requested.
  • Achieve company growth through direct member referral, direct supplier referrals, independent member
  • onboarding, and association pipelines.
  • Provide new account onboarding education to members on a GPO supply chain opportunities and compliance.
  • Follow cross-department communication ensuring all account information is updated timely and accurately in our customer relationship management system
  • Develop distribution rep relationships with a minimum of 125+ field reps as a future source of new accounts and support overall alignment to distribution supplier contract. To include strategic level vendor reps and new rep education.
  • Distribution standard process alignment on all supplier contracts knowledge, responsible for leading an organic pipeline.
  • Mitigation of risk through sales strategy and negotiation on strategic level accounts
  • Serves as subject matter expert within respective and assigned area of specialty and expertise.
  • Competency in Physician Affiliation & Management Group designations such as IPA, ACO, CI, PHO, MSO


Account Health

  • Requests custom reports from Data Analytics team for market share analysis, tier maximization and contract compliance.
  • Utilizes vendor reported data and member spend data (via InSight or distributors) to identify compliance, conversion and tier max opportunities.
  • Identifies and shares contract opportunities, and facilitates timely contract activation.
  • Updates members on key program initiatives and strategic opportunities.
  • Schedules and completes quarterly business reviews to include realized value, rebates and admin fees; plus a collaborative forward-focused discussion of next opportunities.
  • Educate members on core portfolio through distributed and direct contracts, program requirements and overall benefits of GPO membership.
  • Recognize and support account maintenance and overall compliance of full portfolio penetration with additional areas of non-medical and purchased services.
  • Provide member education and guidance around standard pharmacy services, vaccine program requirements and contract purchasing adjustments.
  • Understand governance, purpose, and role of cost analytics with the ability to navigate cost conversations with both members and distributors around core contracts, lab contracts, optional contracts, fixed markup negotiations, and flexible markup conversations.
  • Increase member visibility on optional contract use with performance improvement solutions.
  • Ability to discuss and review contract category opportunities to improve member compliance.
  • Contract portfolio expertise in extended service options to include capitol and dietary.
  • Performs other duties as assigned


What qualifications you will need:

  • Bachelor's degree - Required
  • 7+ years of experience in strategic account management with experience in managing large national and/or global brand relationships - Required
  • 3+ years of experience in market segment experience or successful record of accomplishment in strategic account management - Required
  • 1+ years of experience in sales, prospecting, conversion, or pipeline development - Preferred
