Full Job Description
We are seeking a high performing candidate to partner closely with leading backend service providers across OSAT, Substrate, and Test for Microsoft custom silicon projects including MAIA and Cobalt. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working with this ecosystem. Responsibilities • Drive strategic negotiations with global OSAT partners for silicon test services, optimizing rate structures, TTR, incentive frameworks, and facility commitments to balance cost, capacity, and scalability. • Develop and operationalize should-cost models for silicon test, leveraging test time, multi-site efficiency, and asset utilization to improve unit economics. • Partner with Demand Planning and NPI teams to secure test capacity (equipment and labor) 1-3 years ahead of ramp, ensuring readiness and minimizing supply risk. • Contribute to custom silicon sourcing strategy, partnering across Azure hardware, engineering, and supplier ecosystems to align on technology and capacity roadmaps. • Build and manage executive-level supplier relationships across the semiconductor value chain (Foundry, OSAT, Substrate, Test) to enable performance, continuity, and alignment. • Ensure supply continuity through structured forecasting, supplier selection, and qualification processes aligned to engineering and business requirements. • Drive cross-functional execution with sourcing, planning, and program teams to deliver cost, schedule, and material readiness for silicon programs. • Lead procurement and readiness of manufacturing test hardware (e.g., probe cards, load boards) to support production ramps. • Establish operating rigor across supplier management, including RoB, QBRs/EBRs, and performance reporting. • Identify and mitigate supply risks, establishing escalation paths and proactive mitigation strategies across the supply base. • Contribute to internal initiatives to improve efficiency, scalability, and resilience of Microsoft's custom silicon supply chain. Qualifications Required Qualifications: • Master's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Materials Science, or related field AND 3+ years experience in procurement, supply chain, sourcing, engineering, operations, or relevant sales-related roles OR Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Materials Science, or related field AND 4+ years experience in procurement, supply chain, sourcing, engineering, operations, or relevant sales-related roles OR equivalent experience. Other Requirements: • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter. Preferred Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Supply Chain, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience). • Master's degree in a technical/engineering discipline or MBA preferred. • Experience in semiconductor sourcing, commodity management, or test operations (Foundry, Assembly, Test). • Strong working knowledge of leading test platforms (e.g., Advantest, Teradyne, Chroma, Hontech) and how test methodologies impact commercial outcomes. • Experience operating within a Customer-Owned Tooling (COT) model. • Solid understanding of P&L management, including CAPEX vs. OPEX trade-offs and evaluation of consignment vs. rental models for test equipment. • Familiarity with the back-end semiconductor supply chain, including Wafer Probe (CP), Final Test (FT), System-Level Test (SLT), and Burn-In. • Proven ability to structure, negotiate, and manage MSAs and SOWs with cross-functional teams internally and externally. • Experience managing end-to-end material readiness, including probe cards, load boards, and other components for consigned or rental equipment. • Direct experience in technical sourcing for custom silicon programs. • Understanding of custom silicon design, process technologies, signaling, and packaging. • Ability to drive alignment across supply chain, planning, and engineering teams. • Experience with complex silicon projects, including defining SOWs, running RFIs/RFQs, and negotiating design services agreements. • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail. • Expertise in market analysis, including market sizing, supply-demand dynamics, investment trends, and strategic implications. • Experience in should-cost modeling for silicon and packaging. • Strong executive communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate perspectives and drive ownership. #CSCP #CSCPJobs Sourcing Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $160,200 - $261,000 per year. Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
