This is a people manager role. The Senior Manager Resilience Lead leads a team that protects Amazon's personnel, operations, and assets during disruptive events. This role builds and sustains the organization's ability to detect, prepare for, respond to, and recover from threats, incidents, and crisis situations that impact our global network.
You will own crisis response coordination, E2E contingency planning, and operational protection deployment across Amazon's network. This requires deep understanding of how packages move through the network, where that network is vulnerable to disruption, and how to translate risk signals into pre-approved operational responses that protect people and packages within defined SLAs.
You will drive delivery of multiple concurrent resilience programs, own relationships with Operations, CX, Transport, and S&LP partners, and influence the resilience agenda at senior leadership forums. You operate a Follow-the-Sun model, ensuring 24/7 support regardless of region.
Key job responsibilities
- Develop and maintain E2E contingency playbooks for capacity loss at origin and volume impediment to destination scenarios, structured in 30-minute CMT cadence blocks with defined protection deployment thresholds
- Coordinate Crisis Management Team (CMT) activations for multi-site events, owning the impact picture, protection deployment decisions, and leadership communications
- Build resilience capability across the organisation by training teams, exercising plans, and preparing the business to respond to events that threaten personnel, operations, and assets
- Partner with Operations (OBWR, CRC, Line Haul), CX, and GSOC to understand network flows, protection mechanisms, and downstream impact of disruptions on customer delivery promises
- Own programme governance for assigned workstreams including metrics, dashboards, reporting mechanisms, and stakeholder engagement cadences
- Drive continuous improvement by conducting after-action reviews, identifying root causes of protection failures, and feeding lessons back into playbooks and standards
- Support the global resilience framework by translating Amazon Security Policies into operational applications, creating mechanisms that enable regional teams to adapt to and absorb negative risk impacts
A day in the life
The Senior Manager Resilience Lead works closely with WWOS, Regional Security & Loss Prevention, and Operations leaders to understand how Amazon's network moves packages end-to-end and where that network is vulnerable to disruption. They translate that understanding into proportionate, actionable contingency plans and response frameworks.
During active events, they coordinate crisis response across multiple sites and functions, deploying protections (capacity adjustments, transit time pads, delivery date extensions) within defined SLAs. Between events, they develop playbooks, exercise teams, build partnerships with Operations and CX stakeholders, and drive continuous improvement through structured after-action reviews.
This role operates across highly diversified and complex environments with shifting risk conditions, enabling action through regional teams and partners while maintaining global standards.
About the team
The Resilience team creates and maintains the framework that ensures continuation of Amazon's operations during disruptive events, providing risk oversight, preparedness planning, contingency coordination, and incident response as a service to Business and Operational teams. The team provides strategic, tactical, and operational mechanisms by working closely with global and regional business partners.
We detect risks early through intelligence feeds and weather forecasting, prepare the network through pre-approved E2E contingency plans, respond through coordinated Crisis Management Team activations, and recover through structured protection removal and capacity restoration. The team operates a Follow-the-Sun model across three regions, ensuring 24/7 coverage of global disruption events.
The team works in close coordination with:
- GSOC: Coordinating triage, activation, and 24/7 operational coverage
- Risk Preparedness: Exercising and validating playbook readiness
- Regional S&LP: Partnering on security risk assessments and threat intelligence
- Operations, CX & Transport: Owning relationships and representing resilience at leadership forums
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience managing direct reports
- Experience building and managing a high-performing team of direct reports
- 7+ years of compliance, audit or risk management experience
- 5+ years of program or project Management experience
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio, and MS Project) at an advanced level
- Bachelor's degree or above in a related field
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Risk Management, Business Administration, Security Management, or a related field
- Direct user experience with geo-spatial tools and platforms (ArcGIS, ESRI, Palantir, etc.)
- Certification in business continuity (CBCI, MBCI), crisis management, or incident command (ICS)
- Demonstrated ability to build E2E contingency plans or playbooks for operational resilience at network scale
The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
