The role:

Leads and oversees Procurement process & standards ensuring the design, maintenance, and governance of standards and templates are aligned to best practice procurement process. specific goals, plans, and initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the department's business strategies and objectives. Acts as a control within Procurement, safeguarding consistency, compliance, and operational effectiveness across the source-to-settle lifecycle. Through data-driven insights and cross-functional collaboration, the role enables sustainable process improvements and strengthens procurement risk management and governance maturity.

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

  • Lead and drive a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Own the strategy, planning, optimization, and communication of procurement standards, and procedures.
  • Analyze how adjacent policies, standards, and procedures will impact procurement practice and proactively adjusts procurement standards, and procedures where applicable.
  • Analyze and documents procurement processes to identify opportunities for improvement based on an understanding of adjacent policies, standards, and procedures to enhance the quality of existing capabilities through defined governance controls that ensures compliance and measurable performance.
  • Lead projects to design, build, and implement procurement procedures aligned to enterprise policies and procurement standards
  • Coordinate Legal department interactions with Procurement to support the review and maintenance of contract templates for third party agreements.
  • Maintain governance process documents for Procurement including supplier management and business controls for supplier onboarding.
  • Oversee work across cross-functional initiatives to deliver sound procurement practices.
  • Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Create an environment in which their team pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.
  • Build a high-performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment and using a coaching mindset and behaviours, communicating vison/values/business strategy, and managing succession and development planning for the team.


Do you have the skills to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:

  • Bachelor's degree in management, business, or related field; master (MA or MSc) in business or related field preferred
  • 6 - 8 years' previous experience in program management, project management, financial services, or procurement related field
  • Expertise in procurement process design within a financial or similar organization.
  • Experience in project management methodology including techniques for project delivery, reporting, escalation, change management, and postmortem lessons learned
  • Understand the objectives of procurement practices including supplier negotiation, third-party risk management, purchasing, ongoing supplier performance management, and payments
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills including Control Functions, Legal, and Executive leadership
  • Proven ability to lead multiple priorities, adapt to constantly changing business environment, and drive projects to completion
  • Knowledgeable in financial services and regulations (e.g., OSFI, OCC, CFPB, UDAAP) and how they are applied to third party relationships
  • Spanish and French language proficiency is beneficial to the role but not mandatory
