The Senior Manager Private Assets Operations Lead will manage and oversee all operational components for the Private Asset Funds. They will provide leadership and direction to various team members that oversee Private Asset Products including IT, Operations, Portfolio Admin, Fund Accounting, Tax, Legal and Compliance.

Is this role right for you? In this role you will:
  • Lead ongoing operations to ensure high levels of accuracy for monthly and quarterly trading of Private Asset products
  • Ensure subscriptions, distributions, rollovers & redemptions are completed within the required timelines
  • Take full responsibility for all activities pertaining to Private Assets and work closely with the Director, Private Assets & Product Development
  • Act as a liaison with various internal departments including the vendor to ensure the products are set up and functioning as intended
  • Work with internal partners (PIC, Portfolio Management, Scotia Trust, Scotia Capital & JFL) to ensure proper execution of trades and applicable downstream applications and report to dealers, portfolio managers and all internal teams
  • Manage a variety of projects and initiatives to continuously improve operations and/or enhance the product offering
  • Manage various reporting capabilities for the Portfolio Management team and Product team
  • Assist in writing detailed business requirements for new/additional enhancements for Private Asset products

  • A University degree in Business or Finance
  • CPA/CFA designation or Private Markets and Alternative Investment Certificate is an asset
  • 5+ years of experience in a back office / administration capacity
  • A minimum of 5 years in a managerial position with experience in coaching and developing others
  • Knowledge of mutual fund accounting principles, capital markets and various fund structures is an asset
  • Prior experience working with executive committees in investment-related areas
  • Transfer agency experience is an asset
  • Experience with Tax reporting for Mutual Funds
  • High proficiency with Microsoft office, such as Outlook, Excel, and Word
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving & decision-making skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written & verbal
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong leadership skills with proven ability to lead and motivate a team of Subject Matter Experts (SMEs)l
  • The ability to work well under pressure
