PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: $125,000-$155,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.
PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
BBC News is the most trusted global news brand in North and South America, reaching more than 70 million people weekly across digital, audio, and video platforms. The Senior Manager, Partnerships, Americas will shape partnerships strategy and lead execution across the region, reporting to the Regional Director. This is a high-impact role with responsibility for driving growth in strategic reach and revenue, while upholding and protecting and enhancing the BBC's reputation and editorial integrity.
YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:
- Shape and execute the News partnerships strategy across North and South America, leading a high-performing, distributed team
- Own reach, revenue, and margin performance of the Americas partnerships portfolio, in collaboration with Strategic Planning & Delivery lead
- Act as a senior external representative of BBC News, building and managing key market relationships and supporting the Regional Director
- Secure and manage high-value agreements, including major US public radio partnerships and World Service distribution deals across North and South America, with responsibility for negotiating and overseeing robust contractual frameworks
- Identify and develop new, scalable partnership opportunities beyond traditional syndication, particularly in Latin America, working with BBC Studios where appropriate
- Work closely with senior editorial, product, commercial and distribution teams to deliver partnerships that grow income and align with BBC values
- Use market insight and partner feedback to inform editorial and product development.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
- Senior-level experience developing content partnerships and successfully negotiating high-value licensing, distribution, and co-production agreements for a major media organisation or technology company
- Deep understanding of the US news media landscape and passion for the mission of BBC News in providing trusted and impartial news and information
- Proven track record of owning and growing a seven-figure (or larger) business portfolio
- Strong leadership experience, with the ability to manage and motivate distributed teams
- Excellent commercial judgment, including pricing strategy
- Ability to operate independently in complex, matrixed organizations and influence senior stakeholders
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including developing and presenting business cases
DESIRABLE:
- Knowledge of Latin American markets
- Experience working across international and multicultural environments
