Full Job Description

The Senior Manager of Real Estate is responsible for supporting the effective management of the firm's real estate portfolio, including the acquisition, development, management, and disposition of properties. The Senior Manager of Real Estate will support all aspects of leasing, buildouts, and relocations, including partnering with local office teams; coordinating project budgets; and managing architects, general contractors, and vendors. The Senior Manager of Real Estate is responsible for financial management and ongoing compliance with all relevant regulations, as well as supporting strategic planning for the firm’s real estate portfolio. The Senior Manager of Real Estate will collaborate closely with senior management to align real estate strategies with the firm's overall business objectives.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Support the Director in development of the firm's real estate strategy and ensure effective implementation of the strategy to support business goals. Identify opportunities for property acquisition, development, and disposition.

  • Operationalize firmwide real estate goals (e.g., ~600 RSF per attorney) and market‑specific leasing strategies; translate these into selection criteria, broker instructions, and negotiation targets for each search.

  • Maintain the firm’s lease critical-dates calendar (e.g., renewals, terminations, expansion/contraction/giveback options, notice windows) and drive decision-making; identify and execute sublease and disposition strategies for vacated or underutilized space, including broker engagement, marketing, landlord consent, subtenant negotiations, and coordination of billing/collections.

  • Oversee the management of the firm's real estate assets, including office spaces, leased properties, and owned properties, with responsibility for lease administration, landlord relationships, and alignment to operational and workplace standards. Partner with Facilities to ensure properties are maintained to high standards and meet the firm’s operational needs.

  • Partner with the Director and Finance on annual budget development for all real estate-related expenses. Oversee the ongoing management of the real estate operating budget in close collaboration with Accounting/Finance, ensuring cost-effective use of resources.

  • Oversee rent payment and reconciliation (e.g., base rent, escalations, CAM/OpEx) and administer subtenant billing and collections.  Monitor financial performance of real estate assets and implement corrective actions as needed.

  • Negotiate and manage leases for office spaces and other properties. Ensure compliance with lease terms and manage lease renewals and terminations.

  • Ensure all real estate activities comply with local, state, and federal regulations. Stay updated on changes in real estate laws and regulations.

  • Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including landlords, local office management, brokers, and regulatory bodies. Represent the firm at industry events and meetings.

  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with real estate transactions and property management. Develop and implement risk management strategies.

  • Prepare and present regular reports on the real estate portfolio's performance to senior management. Provide insights and recommendations based on market trends and financial analysis.

  • Maintain strict confidentiality of all firm-related information.

Required Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Real Estate or Finance or any combination of training, education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.

  • MBA preferred.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum seven (7) years of experience in real estate management with a proven track record of managing large portfolios and development projects.

  • Experience in the real estate transaction process, including hiring brokers, the LOI and leasing process, and subleasing.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a leadership role within a professional services environment preferred.
