In-Office: This is a 100% in-office role based at one of our office locations in either Schaumburg IL, Rochester NY, or Meridian ID location. Remote or hybrid work is not available for this position. Candidates must be able to work on-site five days per week during designated work hours.

Position Overview

This Senior Manager Learning and Development Ops is responsible for the overall design and delivery of product training and/or client training deliverables across Paylocity. It will have a key focus on developing innovative and engaging training solutions, learning modules (instructor-led and on demand), job aids, performance support tools, and delivery methods that support the learning needs of all key user audiences (including administrators, employees, managers and Paylocity team members).

This role will also be responsible for the management and oversight of the learning and development team through learning strategy, discovery of audience needs, program design, delivery and learning support creation. This position leads the teams to build skills and capacity to achieve our key objectives and better respond at the speed of need.

Knowledge and Application
  • Provides thought-leadership and overall strategy as it pertains to the design and development of learning content and user performance support tools for new and existing product solutions.
  • Establishes standards and best practices for training facilitation, learner engagement, knowledge transfer, and skill application.
  • Plans and prioritizes content development and revision strategies for learning content and experiences.
  • Continually develops knowledge and application of adult learning theory in the learning field, and stays current with new industry trends.
  • Leverages learner feedback, performance data, and business outcomes to continuously improve training effectiveness and delivery methods.
  • Understands business goals and GTM strategy to align learning priorities with product launches, operational needs, and measurable outcomes.
  • Stays current on latest instructional design and learning trends and infuses new thinking into the design strategy.

Complexity and Problem Solving
  • Analyzes business needs to identify learning and development opportunities and recommends scalable solutions and mobilizes the team to implement initiatives and evaluates effectiveness through learning performance and business impact.
  • Navigates competing business demands and shifting delivery timelines to resolve challenges, prioritize tasks, and ensure effective execution of multiple learning initiatives.
  • Assesses training delivery effectiveness and learner readiness to identify gaps, risks, and opportunities for improvement.

Discretion and Impact
  • Measures success to established standards through learner engagement, completion, proficiency, and business impact metrics.
  • Drives organizational readiness strategies to support large-scale operational, product, and process changes.
  • Ensures alignment between training delivery plans, business objectives, and organizational priorities.
  • Provides stakeholder support across multiple lines of the business at the Director+ level providing solutions aligned to business objectives.

Collaboration and Interaction
  • Partners with internal and external resources and business leaders to develop and execute on comprehensive training programs, and communication strategies that align with business priorities.
  • Collaborates with Product, Operations, Service, and other business stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of learning programs supporting strategic initiatives and product launches.

Management and Supervision
  • Strategically Leads managers, facilitators, trainers, and instructional designers to successfully deliver learning initiatives that drive measurable business results.
  • Ensures a keen focus on talent and skill development, for individuals and the team, to ensure mastery of subject matter as needed to support the needs of the business.
  • Manages standard operating procedures to ensure consistent design, development, delivery, and evaluation of all training programs.
  • Champions a culture of continues improvement and fosters a collaborative and innovative learning environment.
  • Establishes facilitation excellence standards and coaching programs to improve trainer effectiveness and learner engagement.

Training Delivery and Enablement
  • Manages execution of learning delivery plans across instructor-led, virtual, and blended programs to ensure consistent knowledge transfer and learner adoption.
  • Partners with senior leaders to support organizational readiness, change management, and workforce capability building initiatives.
  • Owns enterprise learning delivery strategies and execution plans to ensure successful knowledge transfer and learner adoption.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience required. Master's degree in industrial/organizational development or related field is a plus
  • Minimum of 5+ years managing or leading a Learning & Development team and driving business results
  • At least 7+ years training/design experience
  • A strategic thinker who can keep the big picture in mind while delivering on the details
  • An effective and inspirational leader with experience coaching and managing people
  • Comfortable working in a fast paced environment juggling multiple priorities
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated focus on self-development and the ability to master new content to drive personal proficiency
  • Demonstrates strong understanding of adult learning principles and familiar with a diverse array of learning methodologies (i.e. mentoring, coaching, etc..)
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate across all levels in the organization
  • (preferred) Experience leading remote workforce
  • (preferred) Prior interviewing and staffing experience

Physical requirements
  • Ability to sit for extended periods: The role requires sitting at a desk or workstation for long periods, typically 7-8 hours a day.
  • Use of computer and phone systems: The employee must be able to operate a computer, use phone systems, and type. This includes using multiple software programs and inquiries simultaneously.

The base pay range for this position is $110,000 to $160,000/yr; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This position is eligible for an annual bonus and restricted stock unit grant based on individual performance in addition to a full range of benefits outlined here.
