Summary

Plans, manages, and coordinates complex instructional program activities and personnel requiring multidisciplinary collaboration and broad program scope to include mathematics, computer science, STEAM, equitable access, instructional innovation, curriculum development, assessment, and professional learning. Oversees the divisionwide development, implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement of mathematics, computer science, and STEAM initiatives; exercises leadership to design, implement, assess, and revise programs and strategic initiatives that support student achievement and advance the FCPS Strategic Plan.

Required
  • Master's degree
  • Five (5) years of experience in curriculum and instruction, educational leadership, or program administration.
    • Advanced degree(s) beyond the minimum degree requirement in a relevant field may be considered for some experience.
  • Postgraduate educational license with endorsement(s) designated as appropriate to the assignment.
  • Administration and supervision PreK-12 endorsement.
  • Knowledge of curriculum development, instructional leadership, mathematics education, computer science education, STEAM education, and educational innovation.
  • Knowledge of school division operations, strategic planning, and instructional improvement.
  • Knowledge of applicable local, state, and federal regulations, policies, standards, and instructional mandates.
  • Skilled in instructional leadership, personnel management, fiscal stewardship, and strategic planning.
  • Proficiency in technology integration and data compilation, analysis, visualization, and reporting.
  • Ability to apply critical thinking and systems analysis to develop innovative instructional solutions in a dynamic educational environment.
  • Ability to lead multiple complex initiatives across departments.
  • Ability to manage and supervise large instructional programs and personnel.
  • Ability to facilitate executive-level meetings and present information to senior leadership, the School Board, and community stakeholders.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.


Major Duties/Essential Functions

  1. Creates, designs, and oversees the divisionwide mathematics, computer science, STEAM, access, and instructional innovation programs to ensure equitable access, high-quality instruction, and improved student achievement.
  2. Advises senior managers and executive leadership on curriculum, instruction, assessment, instructional innovation, computer science, and STEAM initiatives, including program implementation, resource allocation, and strategic priorities.
  3. Leads multidisciplinary collaboration across Curriculum and Instruction, Information Technology, Career and Technical Education, Advanced Academic Programs, Special Education, and other departments to implement integrated instructional initiatives and achieve division priorities.
  4. Provides oversight for the development, implementation, assessment, evaluation, and continuous improvement of divisionwide curriculum, instructional resources, assessments, professional learning, and innovative instructional practices, including computer science, computational thinking, engineering design, artificial intelligence, emerging technologies, and STEAM initiatives.
  5. Directs the development of long-range program plans, staffing strategies, policies, implementation procedures, and short- and long-term objectives that ensure successful accomplishment of the program mission.
  6. Supervises and provides leadership, coaching, performance management, and professional development for assigned managers, specialists, and project staff.
  7. Participates in cross-departmental project teams and plays a key role in developing strategies for achieving the goals contained within the FCPS Strategic Plan and is accountable for outcomes.
  8. Oversees and participates in the preparation of operating budgets, grants, and other funding sources and establishes controls over expenditures through the effective allocation of fiscal, physical, and human resources.
  9. Analyzes and interprets instructional, assessment, implementation, and operational data and prepares written and oral reports, executive briefings, and analyses to identify trends, communicate key insights, and support strategic decision-making.
  10. Manages risk and matters of compliance related to local, state, and federal regulations, policies, standards, and instructional mandates.
  11. Presents information and recommendations to the senior management team or School Board.
  12. Develops and maintains working relationships with school, county, and outside agency personnel.
  13. Facilitates meetings with community groups or employee associations.
  14. May negotiate and/or manage contracts, grants, partnership agreements, and/or memoranda of understanding/agreements.
  15. Oversees the work of vendors or contractors.
  16. Performs related duties as required or assigned.
